HELP ON A REALLY SERIOUS BUSINESS PLEASE! - Mood:Good |
|
Thursday December 13 20124:35:13 PM |
| | I need to make a dress. It's going to be this sort of shape with a full length skirt and 3/4 sleeves. I've bought this gorgeous duchess satin and I don't know whether to use the right side or the wrong side!
Didn't plan it very well! The right side is on the left, the shiny one. The wrong side is on the right, the matt one.
WHICH ONE? |

Well I'm up and trying to work but it's really cold and I don't want to take my arms out from under the duvet. Times like this I wish I had a slanket/snuggie thingumy. And to top it off I'm really hungry and there's nowt in. I wish I had done it last night Pros and cons of city centre pedestrianisation! Go! |

| | My granny just bought a flat that I don't think has been touched since the 60s! She's given me the stuff she doesn't want so I'm going to try to sell it. This is kinda funky. I would keep it but it doesn't fit in with my decor atall.
These curtains are mahoosive! They came from a room with 16 metres of windows!

These ones remind me of the Moomins for some reason.
I think they're fab! I hope other people do too and I get lots of monies for them so I can buy my granny something nice for her new flat. I've sent pics to a couple of dealers. How exciting! |

Saturday September 29 201212:07:38 PM |
| | I decided to tackle my overflowing wardrobe today. See what I might be able to put on ebay, give to my friends, give to a charity shop. I have a very large keep pile consisting of 63 dresses and 46 pairs of shoes. I couldn't bear to part with any of them! Logically, I in no way need even half as many of those dresses. I feel a little guilty. But mostly I just love my clothes! I'm on the IKEA website looking for a bigger wardrobe |

| | My blood test came back and confirmed Whooping Cough. The doctor said it is known as the hundred day cough. I'm into my 9th week so that's 5 and a bit more to go! The cough itself isn't too bad now, I get 4 or 5 fits a day. I just keep tearing my chest wall muscles which leaves me in constant pain but the doctor can't give me anything stronger than ibruprofen If you have the chance to get a booster shot for it, DO IT! After the doctor's I went to the Picasso exhibition, then to one for Van Gogh and Kandinsky. Pretty good way to spend an afternoon I'm being drafted up to work at the Aberdeen store for the whole of next week! Get a hotel and £30 a day meal allowance! £30 is 2 weeks' worth of shopping for me! We started selling Christmas things yesterday. It made me feel even more ill. |

We hadn't spoken properly since we left school appart from on facebook or a quick chat after bumping into each other. Would give anything do have an evening at the pub with him again. |

How far should I push this? - Mood:Good |
|
Tuesday August 07 20125:13:01 PM |
| | I don't if this is a universal thing or not but I live in a tenement. It is 6 flats off a shared stair, hall, front door, back door and a portion of the back green. Most people rent. I bought a flat 2 years ago and another guy bought his about 20 years ago. He's had a long time of being the only owner-occupier so thinks he can push people around. He recently put a sign up saying council rules say we can't keep bikes in the hall and he will remove them if we don't. This is bullpoo. As long as they are not blocking a fire evacuation route, it's fine. If not, the fire brigade can come and assess it. Only they have the power to remove bikes. The bikes are all out of the way and considerately stored. I went to tell him this, in a very friendly manner of course, and he starts making up all these bullcrap rules and saying his say goes because he's been here longest. |

Will there every be a holiday my health doesn`t ruin? - Mood:Good |
|
Tuesday July 31 20123:02:28 PM |
| | You might remember last year me and my boyfriend went on our first holiday together, spent all our savings going to Rome where I promptly broke my foot. This year, we decided to stay within easy reach of the NHS and had a bit of a staycation. We did some touristy things in Edinburgh that we'd never got round to doing, then went up into the Highlands. I got a chest infection 2 weeks before and was assured by the doctor if I took some antibiotics I'd be fine. I just got worse and have spent the whole time coughing away, cracking a rib in the process. Didn't manage to get out and do any of the stuff we planned Went back to the doctor today and apparently I've developed a mystery allergy (randomly broke out in hives on Saturday) and now I have to work out what it is if I ever want to feel better. Start taking bets on a)what I'm allergic to and b)how I will ruin next year's holiday! |

Harrumph - Mood:Good |
|
Saturday June 16 20127:02:44 PM |
| | Ugh majorly pissed off at the new flatmate. She moved in two days before I went away for a week. I came back yesterday and these are my issues! She keeps leaving the immersion heater on, I've found a big frozen pile of something nasty at the bottom of my freezer from one of her containers, a screw has come out of one of the hinges in a kitchen cabinet so now the door is practically hanging off and she didn't think to tell me or keep the screw, I've just gone through and found noodles on my antique table cloth, the placemats moved away so they obviously haven't been used and there's tip-ex all over the coffee table. Words will be had. Worth mentioning that she is my tennant so you would expect she'd be a bit more careful. Very moody right now and my boyfriend is drunk, trying to send my cute texts and I'm just not having any of it. Harrumph. |

Wednesday May 30 20127:39:15 PM |
| | I don't know if this is true for everyone but in my family, a lot more effort seems to be made for mothers day than fathers day. Perhaps because her birthday is on Christmas day we feel she deserves more, I dunno. So this year I thought I would made a real effort! My dad has had a wee gardening and cultivation business running for a few years now, just on the side, nothing major. In the last few months it's really gone well, he's registered it as a business and actually turned a profit! He's having a stall at Gardening Scotland which is kind of a big deal! So I've had a polo shirt and a jumper made up with his logo and website for him to wear there! I'm also looking into getting a decal of the same for the side of his van. Whaddya think? Good gift? What are you doing? It's on 17th June. |

| | Kinda gross but I'm sure you guys can deal with it. I must have eaten something a wee bit off because I've had a bit of a squiffy tummy all night. Ended up being sick. You know how your eyes and nose stream while you're throwing up? Had that so I sniffed to clear my nose. Turns out I wasn't done with being sick so I ended up sniffing and throwing up at the same time. This resulted in me throwing up THOUGH MY NOSE! Chunks and all. It effin burns! Spent ages blowing my nose to try and clear it all but it just keeps coming! I can sniff it back and hack it up again but the acid burns 10 times worse going back the way. Every breath means I smell it too FML |

Tuesday May 01 20126:56:29 PM |
| | I'm dong an over night babysit for a 3 year old boy. He was an absolute delight! Great bath time, bedtime stories then straight off to sleep. Only needs a nappy at night but mum was gushing about how he hadn't had a dirty one in a couple of weeks now. So he's all settled. After an hour I hear a thud so I run up to check on him. He's standing in the middle of his bedroom and tells me he's done a poo. I think, ok that's fine we'll change your nappy. Then the smell hit me. Poo all over him. All over his bed. He'd put his hands in his nappy and had a smear fest! Dump child in 2nd bath of the evening and get rid of poo covered everything. Suddenly realise I have no idea where the spare bed linen is kept. Had to search the whole house practically! Turns out it was under his parents' bed. Sooooo gald I didn't find anything else under there!

| | In the good ol' US of A, how much do you pay for a half litre tub of Ben and Jerry's? I just got some of the caramel core stuff (NOM). I never buy it unless it is on offer as it is stupidly expensive at £5 a tub. Is it that expensive everywhere or are we being ripped off? |

Tuesday April 24 201210:51:40 AM |
| | I spent the weekend staying with my parents. I got bored on Sunday afternoon and decided to get something to read. Perusing the bookcase, I noticed some notebooks that I hadn't seen before. Had a look at it was my mum's midwifery course notes from 1981! It was so interesting to read through, always refering to the patients as husband and wife, talking about illegitamite children, marital relations and stuff like that. It was just assumed everyone was married! You'd get fired for calling a child illegitamite now. I was reading about complications delivering twins (they run in my family and I'd quite like some!) and was just skimming through when I noticed the word DECAPITATED and was all OMGWTFBBQ Turns out if they are locked, first one breech with the other baby's chin under theirs, they can get stuck and the first baby is usually decapitated in order to deliver the second! |

I am having a dilemma of the organisational variety - Mood:Good |
|
Tuesday April 10 20126:46:59 PM |
| | I've been watching The Big Bang Theory alot in the last couple of days and I'm getting a little worried at how Sheldon-esque I am becoming. I am re-arranging my non-fiction and reference books. Ideally, I would have them by topic, an organisational dilemma in itself but I have already have a pre-established system of topic allocation. Only one shelf of my bookcase is tall enough for some of the big hardbacks, which encompass many a topic. I would hate to compromise the system of topics but see no other way to accommodate my whole collection. Any suggestions? In other news, I have I have some people coming to see my spare room and it's all a little scary. How to you choose a flatmate? It's all boys so far so that's easy, I can just go by looks, but what if a girl applies? I must perfect my library allocation before any viewings. |

Tuesday April 03 20125:17:12 AM |
| | Last year I worked for the Liberal Democrats before the Scottish Parliament elections. I had to phone people and ask how they were voting, do surveys and try and get donations. I got some pretty horriffic abuse but the people I worked with were great, it was amazing money and the hours were sweet (5.30pm-9pm). I have another day job now but I've been asked to go back to do the same for some local elections. UK YTers, do you hate the Lib Dems now more than last year? It would only be for about 6 weeks and that would make me around £700. Think that would be worth the abuse? It would also mean potentially doing a retail job 8.30am-5pm then going straight there are working till 9pm. It's not like I need the money but it would be nice to have some more savings. Hmmmmmmmmmm... |

Friday February 24 20126:51:48 PM |
| | I've been applying for work placements/year in industry placements and I've been offered a fantastic position. It is in the area I would love to specialise in, would garuntee me a graduate job and there are fantastic wages and benefits. But it's in Lebannon. More specifically, the American University of Beruit. Now methinks America ain't so popular in that nexk of the woods at the moment and the news is full of what's going on in Syria which is right next door. I've got an appointment to call someone at the embassay in Beriut to ask about security and things but I know my mum is terrified at the idea of me going. Thoughts please... |
