My creeping charlie is dying. I don't know why! Hes a mail order plant. They seem like they'd be hardy. #plantmom

I'm at my computer for the first time in forever. I pulled up a comfy chair to do assistant to husband paperwork things. Those things are done now. But i want to do some project or such on here. I can't figure out what though.

MIL's mother is dying. Flu. And other ongoing issues. Its difficult in the fact that its difficult for MIL and we both love MIL. And we are so far away. Husband really really doesn't want to go back for a funeral, for many reasons. But wants to be there for his mom. Ah. It'll be nice when she moves out by us. Awkward at first. But i'm rather hoping we become bffs. I'm so social anxietied and awkward and such though. I wonder if she thinks I'm good enough for her son. Her son is rather amazing

I always worry chinese food is going to food poison me, even though it never does. - Mood:Good
Saturday February 01 20201:02:46 AM |
I found a chocolate site (thanks facebook ads) selling delicious looking filled chocolate bars for 7$ each. I'm up to $85 in my cart. Thats a problem.

I get to bake for husband's classes again in a couple days! 14 students, much more manageable than the 30 of last semester. I'm excited. I can't decide what to make. I'm thinking cupcakes. Don't know what kind yet though.

I feel like i'm too happy/ things are going good, and something is going to kill my happy cloud. I mean, it will eventually. Thats just life. I hope no one dies.

I want to see giant sequoias in person. Its about a 14 hour drive. I'd like to do a Cali road trip. Not sure that'll actually happen. But I'd like to.

We just got about new 4 neighbors who just moved in, 4 different apartments. They are a bit rowdy. I hope that doesn't last.
I should go down there. "Heres some cookies, please shut the f*ck up."

Suggest me some monthly subscriptions/ or just witness me try to find one - Mood:Good
Wednesday January 22 20207:40:16 AM |
So. I want to get a monthly subscription of something. I don't know what. Mostly just for the Christmas present like excitement of getting something pleasant in the mail.

Probably not clothes.
Also not super expensive. Under 20 is ideal.

Food? Maybe a sweet?
I used to have a sub to a monthly 'try snacks from around the world!'. which was alright. But its snack foods I usually don't eat anyway, packaged cookies and chips and stuff.

I'm off to google some. If anyone actually responses, I'll update with what I find.

Also, my thumb hurts. Nail ripped below the skin line. Owie.

I've been trying out new shows lately.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist- LOVE
Everything's gonna be okay- odd. but not unpleasant.
Buffy- I keep trying. Its alrightish.
Emergence- I really rather like it and hope it doesn't get canceled.

I wanted to try Tell Me a Story, but we don't have that channel.

Tuesday December 31 201911:38:17 PM |
Happy everything yall.

My sister's christmas present to me is on the way. She's super anxious about it getting here. Its fragile apparently I'm intrigued.

Watching Speed 2 for New Years. Husband tried to stay up until 10pm to watch the east coast ball drop. Nope. 9:30pm and he gave up. 15 minutes from the end of the movie, grrr.

So I'll watch by myself.

I'm excited for the vacation we have coming up. I'm also a little excited about taking all the christmas stuff down. Maybe because its so crammed in here. It'll be nice to have the tree space back.

All our neighbors are moving out. Seems like an odd time of year to me to move, around christmas. The nice stoners are gone! I hope the new people are decent.

I keep meaning to take classes and keep.. not. I can't get past all the work of it. I need some keep-me-busy classes, not getting-a-degree classes. Maybe yoga.

Lets Talk Marvel Movies- Help. - Mood:Good
Sunday December 15 20193:19:00 AM |
So, with Disney+ now blah blah, I want to watch the millions (22 according to the interwebs) of Marvel movies that are on there. MCU, the interwebs also taught me its called.

I googled whether I should watch them in release order or some other wonky timeline order. And I got a lot of conflicting answers.

So. What do you think?

From the wiki list, I have already seen: Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange (which was just so distracting with his horrible accent), Black Panther.

Thoughts?

How much do you pay for a haircut?

Husband has a very simple haircut, every few weeks. We ate trying to figure out what people pay for these things and therefore where is too expensive to go.

Also, curiosity questions:
Do you personally make an appt or just walk in?
What do you (personally) say to the barber about how you want it cut?
Do you chat?
Always go to the same place/ get same barber?

Holiday Baking (for charity) Extravaganza. And other stuff. - Mood:Good
Wednesday December 04 20192:14:40 PM |
They need homemade baked goods donations for a charity bake sale this weekend. PERFECT for me. So I'm baking a ton of stuff. As of right now I'm thinking:

- Peanut Butter Mice Cookies
- Reindeer Cupcakes (either butter pecan/ caramel or chocolate/ pb or caramel)
- Mini bundts in red and green swirls
- Cinnamon Baked Donuts

Those may change. Or expand. Or lessen.

I'm about to make the dough for the pb mice. Fridge it overnight. I want to make more cookie types, but i'm not sure what. I feel like everyone is going to make sugar cookies, so i'm steering away from those. Hm.

Tree is finally up! Very unmotivated with the tree this year. Its a bit minimalist. Which is kinda nice too.

Christmas shopping is mostly complete. I made a bunch of stuff this year. Painting for my mom. Sewed a talking teddy bear for my gram. I'm rather excited about most of the gifts I'm giving.

I feel like I haven`t made a journal in forever. - Mood:Good
Saturday November 16 20191:55:52 PM |

We are having a Christmas tree dilemma. We can't figure out where to put it. The space it was last year now has a heavy desk and a large wicker chair in it. We have a very small apartment. Husband wants to get a little mini tree, like 3 feet. I feel like that'll just make me sad. But our current tree is 7.5 foot, 54 diameter. Thats like half our living room. Sigh.

I'm loving Disney+. When it works. So far watched: all of Bug Juice, Candleshoe, Pollyanna (with hayaley mills).

My mom wants house decor for Christmas. My stepdad died 4 years ago now, and the house was very him. wood everywhere. Floors, wall tiles. Ducks everywhere. Just very masculine. Mom wants to feminize it up a bit, make it more her. Plus shes down to one very old pup. So breakable things are okay again.
I'm getting her a k-cup tree, as she said she wanted (she gave me SO many ideas).

How do i transport, heat, and pour caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and pb sauce? - Mood:Good
Tuesday October 29 201910:26:39 AM |
So. Im planning a bit of a showstopper dessert for my husband's class on Halloween.

I have clear plastic spider cups. Im going to make chocolate chip cookies that fit on the bottom. Then cupcakes with candy in the middle (butterfingers, lindts choco balls, or snickers) on top of the cookie. Then im making a caramel, a ganache, and a peanut butter sauce that will hopefully be warm, and can be put over everything. Then whipped cream.

Im going to assemble the cookie and cupcake into the cup, then id like to have the 3 choices of sauces available to put on.
But what on earth do i put them in?
Ideally a squeeze bottle that i can microwave, but i don't have any of those, nor could i find any i trust to microwave that can be here by Wednesday.

Costume me, yt - Mood:Good
Sunday October 20 20199:55:00 PM |
So, i think im am going to deliver spooky baked goods to my husband's class on Halloween. I want to dress up to deliver them.
What baking related costume can i wear, that i can make/ buy cheap, that's not TOO involved (in case I'm the only one dressed up)?

I thought about an eclair. But. Not sure how I'd do that.

Any thoughts?

Burritos, gorditos, tortas, oh my! (Help) - Mood:Good
Tuesday October 15 20199:51:40 PM |
I live in the land of Mexican food, yet have no idea what most of it is. Ive tried googling, but with stuff like taco and burrito, i get wildly different/ variety of answers.

Mostly, i want to know if i go into a restaurant and order a _____, what am i gonna get

Torta
Burrito
Gordito
Enchilada
Flautas

Though, this is more of hey, Mexican food thread, then a hey, help me with what these are. Though. That's appreciated too

Every time i get tacos somewhere, it's a soft shell, super doughy thing im not fond of but i have no idea what i should be ordering. Normally, i just wouldn't get Mexican but that's kinda impossible here. Plus i bet there's something i like, I'm just not aware of it yet.

What's your go to Mexican restaurant food?

P.s. Rhonda Rousey is a terrible actress.

Bake Sale ideas and prep, and Skyping with my Family for my Birthday. - Mood:Good
Saturday October 12 20195:33:53 PM |
I'm skyping with my family for my birthday. Its an experience. My aunt takes over 97% of the conversation. I can see my mom, gram and gramp. But its all aunt, all the time, talking. Well, plus i can see my gramp but he can't hear me anyway, his hearing is mostly gone. They have to yell. He waves. I wave.

I opened presents Mom got me a mixer!! Woo.

Its bittersweet. I wish I was there. But man. I also am glad I'm not.

I moved my plants inside, getting cold at night.

Bake sale! Its Tuesday and Thursday. I'm thinking of making 2 things for Tuesday, 2 things for Thursday.
Contenders:
- Spice cupcakes
- Apple brownies
- Stained glass halloween cut out sugar cookies
- Lemon ginger brownies
- Other cookies
- ?

Its Halloween/ Fall themed. The lemon brownies would be pushing it, but ginger is fall-y..?

Any suggestions of what to bake?

I'm all by myself and kinda sad.

Thursday October 10 20192:12:40 PM |
Its snow white (or one of the Disney princesses) with a rolling pin, baking while her woodland creature friends look on. Ah.

I'm baking. Ambitiously. I have 3 and a half hours and I'm in process of making witch finger cookies, pumpkin flavored pumpkin cookies, and mini pumpkin cupcakes (to use up three rest of the puree). Then walk them all up to campus for my husband's class.

Cookie doughs are made, witches are being refridged, pumpkins are in process of baking. I worry they aren't going to keep their ball shape. They are very sticky.

Y'all. It's my birthday in 2 days. I'm not as fanatically excited this year like i usually seem. Don't know why. I think I'm going to skype with my family for it. Also think I'm going to make myself a cake. Though i can't decide if i wanna order pizza, or make myself chicken, for dinner.
Mostly celebrating Saturday.

Fade in on a girl with a hunger for fame, And a face and a name to remember - Mood:Good
Sunday October 06 20196:37:16 AM |
I started watching British Bake Off on Netflix. I think its the series from 2018?
I'm so excited to try some of the recipes. So far, Wagon Wheels. Though, i'm so not making my own jam or marshmallow. Someday I will make marshmallow from scratch. Probably not soon.

It took me til 15 minutes in to realize that biscuit week meant they were making cookies. Considering the amount of Brit tv and radio shows I consume, thats just sad.

I introduced my husband to the show Smash. We are 2 episodes in and he's already far too invested and very, very angry at who got the main role (the show is about a fictional broadway show being made, from the ground up). It is getting so many songs stuck in his head, that he therefore sings to death. Ah. I love him, but he is no Megan Hilty. So many broadway people are in it, its so exciting for me to point out to him. Though he breaks my heart....

Soon within my tapestry along the rutted road, He sat down on a river rock and turned into a toad - Mood:Good
Monday September 30 201912:45:31 AM |
I've decided to get holiday tapestries. We have a large amount of blank wall space (that drives me nuts, I hate blank wall space) above our couch.

I was going to put up a spiderweb lights thingy I bought on clearance last Halloween, but.. Its difficult. Its a tangled mess, not quite long enough, and just.. Not right there.

SO. I amazoned for "holiday wall" to see what came up and TAPESTRIES! Awesome. Light weight, easy to store away, I can change them with the seasons, not super expensive. I'm very excited.

Anyone wanna help me pick some out?

For now i'm looking for Halloween/ Fall/ Christmas. Though, I like more cute/ Fall for Halloween than scary.

Ahh I love shopping.
I'm going to not spend a ridiculous amount of money on these.
But I'm really rather excited.

Apple Picking, West Nile Virus, Book Cheating, Too Anxious for Puppies, etc - Mood:Good
Monday September 23 20198:52:56 AM |
We went apple picking yesterday! Which, coming from western NY and now living in New Mexico I never thought I'd do here, and have never done there. Well. Unless you count picking the apples in my moms and aunts backyards.
The smell of apples rotting on the ground brought back a lot of memories. My aunt tends her trees, but growing up, my mom had 3 apple trees in her backyard that she ignored. So. Our backyard always smelled in rotten apples in the fall. Its not a pleasant smell.

It was SO HOT. I don't get hot easily. I was dying. Why is it so damn hot here. Its September! This was the last weekend of apple picking too. Ugh. I got bit by a mosquito, it super hurt. I got bitten to death by mosquitoes working in the park in VA, but either they hurt worse here, or I'm out of practice at getting bitten. Probably the latter.

Loan interest is putting me in a funk. - Mood:Good
Friday September 20 20197:39:17 AM |
I've paid the amount of one of my loans, in terms of how much money ive paid to it. But it's still the same balance. Because interest. It doesnt go down. Every payment i make, just pays off the interest, so it doesn't go down. Stays the same balance. I may throw myself off a bridge.

And that's one loan. I have 2. Husband has one very large one. At least his is in the forgiveness program. If that keeps being a thing. Mine are just. Growing. Always. No matter if i make payments or not. I'm going to die of old age and still have a ton of student loan debt.

I mostly try not to think about them because they really affect my mental health when i do. But husband asked me to look into whether trying to take an all at once small chunk out of one would really do anything or not. Which. I don't know. I don't math well. And would it be better to take a large chunk out of one of the sub-loans

What movies/ documentaries will expand my husbands societal perspectives? - Mood:Good
Sunday September 08 20194:30:37 PM |
My husband is sheltered. He's a very, shut himself in a room and work with numbers and equations person.
But he teaches counseling/psychology (research and stats), so he wants to be a bit more familiar with others lived experiences.

I'm trying to find some good movies and documentaries for us to watch, since i too am very homebody, and watching stuff like that is one way i try to get some perspective on others experiences and cultures. But i like that stuff i like expanding my whatnot, he's never really thought about it before.

I watch a lot of stuff on HIV/AIDS, so i got that covered with a few docs and movies (though do suggest good ones i may have missed.

But what are some good ones for stuff like, different cultures, disabilities, deaf, black, Hispanic, time period stuff, history etc.

Uplifting too please, we'd rather not fall into a pit of depression

I have a face mask on. Its an interesting experience. - Mood:Good
Sunday September 01 20193:42:24 AM |
I've never face masked before. For a bunch of reasons: im allergic to most things topical, i dont care too much about the "beautiful glow" of my face, and these things are expensive.

But i thought id give it a try. But with a super gentle, not painful peeling mask. I specifically looked for gentle. I dont want to rip. I want to gently peel

First, it spilled all over me when i opened the jar. Then i tested some on my arm. It came off alright. Bit itchy. And semi painful with the wispy hairs.

So i put some on my face. Nose and forehead. No need to go whole hog yet.

Its drying.

One thing i did not anticipate is my lack of glasses. Since the goop is on my nose. Which means i cant watch tv or such for the 20 minutes its drying. My nose is literally 2 inches from my tablet to type.

I also feel a bit HP Petrified. Stone.

Oh no. I have to sneeze. My face might crack like glass.

I sent in butter pecan cupcakes with caramel and vanilla swirled frosting with my husband, for his class.
[Spoiler]

2 boxes, 4 dozen.
They are damn tasty.

Husband just texted me, they are making baking requests the red hots cinnamon cupcakes i made over the summer.
Hm. Those were kind of a, lets throw this in and see what happens, kind of recipe i think.

Hes teaching 3 night classes a week this semester. Lots of baking time. Thinking i might make banana cupcakes next. Since i have a bunch of browning bananas.

Still super hot out. Might start going for walks when it gets cooler.

Things i should be doing:

- dishes
- showering
- tidying

Things i am doing
- laying on the couch

I did wax though. So there's that.

I`m out of town - Mood:Good
Thursday August 08 201912:26:53 AM |
I dont wanna say where i am, because I'm paranoid like that, but we are on vacation

It's been mostly good!! Got here yesterday, explored the hotel. There is a TON to explore in this hotel.
This morning i got my period and horrid cramps
So we got a bit of a late start. Got breakfast. Came back to the room to hopefully wait out the cramps (meds to work), and we played a trivia game

Then we went down to the casino, because we don't casino, so we went down to check it out. We tried to play a few games but we couldn't figure out how. And they all look like slots. How boring.
So we came back up to the room, decided to go pedal boating! The dude was super rude, but we had a good time on the boat. Husband surprised himself and enjoyed himself
We were co pedaling, and he was getting tired so i said I'll take over for a bit. Well. When he stopped i realized

Do SOs still say "bless you" (or some such) to each other when they sneeze? - Mood:Good
Monday August 05 20193:34:30 AM |
I just realized that my husband and I don't say anything to each other when we sneeze. Mostly because today I yelled "bless you!" from the other room, and it felt weird, because i realized, we don't do that anymore.
Sometimes he'll say "SNEEZE CAKE" (he calls me Cake) when I do. Or comment on the loudness or amount. Most often he says "oh no" and steadies me when I go to sneeze because I've been known to knock myself over (I have powerful sneezes) (gave myself a black eye once). But we don't do the whole "gesundheit!" and haven't, i think, for years. Strangers, friends, yes. Each other, no.

We got a bug zapper. A hanging, black light, bug zapper, for the tons of seed bugs that somehow find their way into our kitchen, hang around our ceiling light, then all die and rain onto the floor, every week or so.

Boom! Shake, Shake, Shake the Room. - Mood:Good
Thursday August 01 201912:10:30 AM |
My shake and bake chicken came out pretty good. I'm always convinced I'm going to salmonella myself when I make chicken. Fingers crossed I don't.

I'm wearing a maroon shirt, red pants, and with my newly dyed red hair, its just not a good look. Luckily, I didn't leave the apt today.

Its thundering and lightning really loud. And normally I love a thunderstorm. But I'm a bit freaked out by this one.

I finished watching Christopher Robin. It was cute.

I'm not quite sure what to do with myself. We are going on vacation soon. I could pack. I've been doing so. I take awhile. Packing to me is like solving a big puzzle. Finding all the stuff I need, them making them all fit together, in an organized way. Its fun. But a challenge.

I`m using my degree! I`m back to being The Facilitator of Fun. - Mood:Good
Saturday July 27 20194:21:23 PM |
Its nice to dust it off.

I majored in recreation and leisure/ therapeutic reaction. Basically program and activity creating, facilitating, adapting, etc yada.

Husband is having a day of activities in his class, to simulate doing tasks with impairments. THIS IS RIGHT UP MY ALLEY. So I made him 7 stations of 12 activities. We got the last materials needed yesterday.

Today I am finishing up writing the instructions, printing and laminating the instructions and signage, trying out the activities, trying to figure out how long the activities should take. gathering and organizing the materials. And other things I'm sure Im forgetting. Activities like, doing a maze in a mirror, stacking cups with oven mitts on, doing brain teaser matchstick puzzles. I got simulation glasses for cataracts, blurry vision, diabetic eye diseases.
