Both, like finding out Christopher Walken was married. That was depressing but at least I could stop thinking of ways to woo him.

Christopher Walken is married(?!), oh man, now I'm depressed...
The truth is often depressing, but I wouldn't have it any other way - I need to know!

You may feel better about confessing, but the reaction you get may cause you to fall into a deep depression.

That kind of depends on the particular truth in question, now doesn't it?

I confused my philosophy teacher because I said I'd always want to know the truth however devestating the knowledge would be. Small truths might make you happy, as may small lies, but the huge truths I think make you depressed because it means everything you've believed up to the point of finding the truth was a lie. But that's only if the truth is different to how you believed anyway. I guess it depends whether or not it's an expected truth, and whether or not that truth is something you want to know or not. It's a hard one, there is no absolute answer (I saw the question and thought 'easy-peasy, it makes you depressed' but I was only thinking about some truths).
I find, personally, more truths make me feel depressed.
