I don't worry too much about it, but I don't like hamburgers rare at all. So I figure if it's cooked thoroughly it's probably safe. |

^^^ Actually, the E. Coli in the beef can have been killed, but the tomatoes cut on the same cutting board can pick up the E. Coli from the beef and kill you. |

Definitely. I only put meats on surfaces that can easily be cleaned thoroughly. Usually just on glazed things. Never on anything porous like a wooden cutting board. And even plastics can harbor "bugs" in scratches. |
