I prefer phi, just because it's so darned amazing; the most rational irrational number.
phi = 1 + 1/phi, and therefore:
phi = 1 + 1 /(1 + 1 /(1 + 1 /(1 + ...
The convergent of the fractions gives the ratios of succesive fibonnaci numbers (1, 2, 3/2, 5/3, 8/5, etc.)
phi squared is also equal to 1 + phi, and so
phi = sqrt ( 1 + sqrt ( 1 + sqrt ( 1 +...
And the golden spiral is just so damned pretty.

I prefer $e$, since $\pi$ is overrated, though $\phi$ is definitely better than either.
Why yes, I do use LaTeX often, why do you ask? |

I prefer pi because I hate dealing with exponents which finding e forces me to do, even though those are pretty simple ones to deal with.
I also love that I can count my twisting rotations in radians with pi.
I'll be so happy with I can do a 4pi. |
