10 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 11/28/08 - 4:40:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. No more than heterosexuality is a fetish.
10 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 11/28/08 - 5:02:36 PM EST (GMT-5)
uhh no, it's just their sexual preference, that's all.

Nah, we aren't suffering from any fetishes. No one really knows why we are bi/gay/transgender, we just are. So, nope, not fetish...ers?

fetish
c: an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression

I'm going to say NO.

No....
Fetish is more action based, or body part based...it's not sexual preference...two entirely different things.

Is that what you think, lithium? If so, get help.
No! they're not fetishes and I'm pretty sure you know that.

Well, it's interesting you're all so defensive. Unless anyone can point me in any other direction, such as any research etc... (which I honestly am requesting, I'm not trying to be argumentative), I don't see how homosexuality and bisexuality isn't exactly the same as a 'same sex fetish'
10 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 12/2/08 - 4:30:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope

I can see where you're coming from. With the internet and all, I've picked up a few things that I'd probably have previously not found sexy at all. I can totally see how you could get into gay cinema for adult viewing or something in the same way you could get into any number of weird sex things.

Well, it's not even about getting 'into' stuff, as most of us have had whatever sexuality we have since before we can remember.

I'm thinking of it like this: Say we're talking about a foot fetish. You might have one person that isn't attracted to feet in a sexual way at all, but then someone else might be attracted to feet a little, maybe as an alternative or enhancement to regular sex, and then you'll have the guy that can only get off if there are feet involved.

Now if you put it in the context of the 'same sex fetish': You might have one person that isn't attracted to the same sex in a sexual way at all (straight), but then someone else might be attracted to the same sex a little, maybe as an alternative or enhancement to regular sex (bisexuality), and then you'll have the guy that can only get off if a person of the same sex is involved (homosexuality).

You can look at any fetish you like and you'll find this pattern every single time. The question I want to ask therefore is why should homosexuality be seen as something different?
10 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 12/3/08 - 4:12:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
Using that logic, heterosexuality is a fetish.

Most heterosexual people require the presence of both a penis and a vagina in order to be sexually interested.

No, but bisexuality seems to become a fad. Or at least claiming you are.

Not sure if you can post a link here but check out bibrainDOTorg if you think bisexual men don't really exist, which kickass9 implies above.
