My aunt had African Greys and Cockatoos. They were neat to visit but I liked being able to leave the squawking and shrieking and pooping.

There isn't one specific species of bird called a "parrot." It's like saying, "Which do you prefer: dogs or canines?" (And depending on what part of the world you're in, a "parakeet" is not a specific species either.)
