College doesn't determine success or failure in life after college.

The most successful people I know personally did not go to college. They were hooked up with good jobs after high school by friends or family.

And the who you know game can be amplified if you go to certain schools, especially Ivy League types.
Sucess is often mode attributed to who you know rather than what you can do

It is true.
It's an anecdote from *my* circle of people that the richest ones didn't go to/finish college.
The next tier of people under them did go to college and are doing well with IT and nursing degrees.

and some people may not have those connections, which is why i think college is necessary.
my brother went to school with kids of wealthy people who pretty much goofed off, but i think that was so they could keep them somewhere relatively cheap for another 4 years.

College tends to provide more choices from an employment standpoint than not going to college. Doesn't mean that one will fail at life if they don't go though.
