This question is a non-starter.
Democrats aren't a good party but there's no comparison between the two.

I think the goal of Republicans is to divide the US and the goal of Democrats is to divide themselves.

I think it is the democrats, judging by the actions they have done this summer.

the suppression of alternatives pretty much makes both parties guilty of dividing america. you're either a fascist or a libtard, nothing in between.
republicans say anyone to their left are "far-left democrats" while democrats shame third-party voters by saying they're voting for trump. the methods of division are just different.

I'm not sure about parties as a whole but at least during my 50+ years of lifetime I've never seen the people as divieded as under Trump. And he really does nothing to change that, he doesn't even pretend to try.

Is that division because of Trump, or because of the haters against Trump?

Because of Trump. He speaks of blue states as though they can be dismissed entirely for daring to have more people who voted for his opponent than him, ignoring that a large part of the state did vote for him, and the important fact that being president means being president of all Americans, not just the ones who vote (R).

You really think that Dems don't speak of red states as though they can be dismissed entirely?

That sort of thing has been going on long before Trump came into office.

i'd also like to add that third parties consider 5% of the popular vote as a lofty goal. that's a bit concerning to me considering we already know the two-party system is flawed.

Both.
Right now I'm annoyed at both parties.
I don't like rushing the Supreme Court nomination but the democrats and their court packing is worse.

The Republicans, no doubt. They have worked to destroy our country and planet. They exist only to fatten the coffers of rich old white men.
Down with the GOP!

So you're unaware of how many judges the Republicans have pushed through the past 4 years? You may want to look that up before you keep thinking anything about Democrats and their supposed court packing.

I think the 'Resist' movement has played a pretty big role in dividing the USA...
Pushing for Impeachment before Trump even took office didn't exactly build unity either...

What was divisive was allying with Russia to steal the election.

I thought the tearing down statues was a little odd.
Has also happened at the advent of socialist states.

Or for religious reason or whenever some king was overthrown like during the French Revolution or, for that matter, during the American Revolution ...
