I don't feel like looking up the companies that come from Arizona. Even if I knew which ones to boycott, I wouldn't boycott them, I would make a point of supporting them, just to be different.

No I'm not in elementary school. Plus, Arizona shouldn't be boycotted for doing something that the rest of America is too cowardly to do, enforce laws.

Sigh... here we go... I wished for excitement, now the state I live in is getting yelled at by all the other states, lol...
I only have one thing to say to those who oppose it though:
You don't live in one of the states directly above Mexico.
(Not that I have anything against Mexicans, but seriously, you get a bit sick of seeing illegals all over the darn place...)

No absolutely not. The worst kind of hypocrisy and stupidity is leading our country. They are simply enforcing a law that's been on the books for 50 years.
If you're against it, i submit that i wish drunk drivers received only a fine. It's the exact same type of logic.

I can't say I'm boycotting Arizona. I have no reason to go there and I honestly don't know what products mainly made in Arizona, so maybe I've been "avoiding" AZ for years. 
That said I don't like this law but I don't think boycotting a state is effective. |

No. I think the law is completely heinous and it angers me that something like that could even happen in this country, but boycotting the entire state is not effective. I still hope to go to the Grand Canyon and visit some family friends in Flagstaff later this year.

How the HELL is this law "completely heinous"? All we're doing is making a Federal Law a State Law as well.

In this you are mistaken. The Arizona law does nothing whatever about immigration, legal or illegal, which is, in any case, a Federal prerogative. Rather, it enables a greater degree of police harassment of minorities than has been the case hitherto. And when I lived in Arizona, the situation in that regard was not good.

i'm not boycotting AZ..that's almost like, my leg keeps twitching so let me stab it...
i don't blame AZ for what it is doing. illegal immigrants are hurting the US Economy, any way you slice it.
on the flip side, I don't blame immigrants for wanting to come to the US..it's an honor that so many flock here for jobs and safety and better quality of life.
the problem, however, wont be fixed this way. the US needs to reform it's immigration laws, so that it doesn't take 25 years and $15,000 to become a citizen.

How is there any discrimination written into the law? If you had ACTUALLY READ THE BILL you would see that it does not target any particular race. Also, it's Arizona. Just about everybody out here has tinted windows on their cars. You can't tell if they are black, white, brown, or purple.

This is a red herring. Raw numbers do not matter in this case. The important thing is not whether most Arizonians are Caucasian or Hispanic. but which group holds more power and which group was responsible for this law.

It does not matter if the bill specifically refers to any ethnic groups or not. It is still discriminatory and absolutely invites and condones discrimination. |
