Vanity means exacessive pride. Self-confidence means the belief in yourself and sonfidence in your own abilities. So no.

No, obsession with one's looks usually comes from insecurity rather than confidence.

I don't believe Vanity is an obsession with ones looks, so I would have to go with "yes".

Self-confidence is something that everyone should have. Being confident in yourself and your abilities is a good thing, but being vain is very different.

Not everyone who is self-confident is vain, nor is every vain person self-confident.

Someone can be vain about a talent or aspect of themselves without being confident with themselves as a whole.

Looks aren't the only thing people can be obsessed with. Vanity doesn't necessarily mean someone is "obsessed", either.

There are a couple talents I have that I'm vain (by "vain" I mean c-cky, not obsessed) about, because I know I'm better at them than most of the population.

Insecurity? What does thinking you look good have to do with being secure with yourself? What security mean anyways? Like feeling safe? If you thought you were pretty you'd feel secure because anything you do you know you would look pretty doing it!

And no vanity is not congruent with self-confidence... Vanity is more obsessed with yourself... Which is a good thing because it shows you care how you look and you don't go ut dressed like a hobo
