My career consists of developing technology--some of which can be used to replace people's jobs...

If my career was serving popcorn to people, I'd be praying for technology to replace me...

Rather doubt it, think it will be hard to create machines that can work on the oceans catching tons of fish ur supplying offshore oil platforms and stuff yet. at least i hope so.

Technology could replace some of the work involved in the new career that I'm training for, but not the job itself.

Maybe you haven't noticed the 'self checkout' lines that are becoming more and more common...
11 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 4/5/08 - 10:18:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
No because my job is to replace people with technology ... I am a CNC programmer lol
11 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Wednesday 5/7/08 - 9:13:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
I can't imagine that it could
11 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Wednesday 5/7/08 - 9:52:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
A robot to (at a golf course) trim, cut greens, cut tees, mow the driving range and fairway, wash golf balls, pick golf balls, fix sand traps, pull weeds, stock the coolers, clean golf carts, and perform all sorts of maintenance....

I mean, it would actually IMPROVE my job if a robot were able to do some of these tasks. It's almost impossible for robots to do all of these things and even if they COULD it would certainly cost more to run and maintain these robots than I am getting paid.
11 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 6/30/08 - 7:43:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
my job is being me, and no robot could do that, trust me, one has tried
11 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 7/4/08 - 12:24:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. My job is a hands on healthcare job and it can't be done by machines....yet.
