Yeah. I never care about the message anyway. I pay more attention to the characters and plot.

You're not going to realize that you don't get the message until you read the book.

Reading is supposed to be fun, and very often each person will take a different message away from a book- it depend on where they are in their life and which character they relate to the most.

If you enjoyed reading the book, it doesn't matter if you didn't "get it's message".

Enjoyment of reading is enough.

I read To Kill a Mocking Bird when I was about 11 and I didn't really get it's message but I still enjoyed it. It's only now that I've read it again that I understand it.

I love to read, but not ALL books have a "point"...

yes because sometimes there are many points you might miss or not undeerstand at first but you come to understand later - a really good book is bigger than you are and makes you reach up.

Yes, but this can be dangerous. For example, I read The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test before making my decision to go to Berkeley. The book talked about "the intellectuals" of that campus and I didn't get the sarcasm. And then the ending of the book ("We blew it") went right over my head somehow. I endorsed the head culture for some time before I re read the thing.
