starcraft is like south korea's national pastime, and the good players there are like celebrities. so it's definitely a sport, at least as far as they're concerned.

No no no no no...a thousand times NO! A sport causes you get off your lazy, cheese doodle eating, Mountain Dew drinking, lard ass. You sweat. You feel pain. You do a physically demaning activity.

No. They can be considered a competitive activity, but not a "Sport."

People already watch people play video games on TV.

How about horse riding? Luge? Wheelchair basketball?

Mat,
Horseback riding is physically demanding. You have to maintain good posture and have leg strength to keep yourself slightly off the saddle to avoid bouncing. Luge also requires strength, endurance, and control. Wheelchair basketball is pretty damn difficult. It takes a tremendous amount of upper body strength.
Video games, however, only require you to sit on your fanny and click a couple buttons with your fingers.

This is hilarious.
I'm reading in England. Fanny does not translate as you think it might!

Golf only requires you to stand there and swing your arms, is that not a sport? Darts only needs one arm! You probably don't even have to stand up. You can sit on whatever part of the anatomy you wish.

Mat,
Golf is still more physically demanding that playing video games. Upper arm strength is required as well as a firm stance. You also need to have control over where you send the ball as well as how much power you must put in your stroke.
Fishing, while relaxing can also be very hard. Deep sea fishing for a 300lb tuna is not an easy task. Your arms will feel like jello by the end of the struggle.
