for me, mad is a temporary state. you get mad about something, you eventually get over it. obviously if it happens too often it's a sign of a bigger problem.
crazy seems to have some sort of permanence and needs some sort of help or treatment. whether it's meds or therapy or just going to a mental hospital, it depends on the situation.

Being mad is also used synonymously with crazy.
I’m not referring to the emotion.
I’m referring to someone who is considered mad, like they’ve gone mad, and someone who is crazy.

Like sometimes I am angry to the point of cognitive dissonance and have been for extended periods of time. Irrational due to circumstance versus a true break from reality.
