My ballot is in the mailbox.

Yeah, I voted on the first day of early voting in NC, October 20th. It is a relief to have it done already.

I heard reports that some Wisconsin early voters are suffering from 'buyer's remorse' and are now seeking to recast their vote (which is legal here).

I'm good to go.

The only "report" I heard about this was from a GOP politician in the state who was speculating that people would want to switch from Clinton after this past weekend. Was there actual data on this (I assume registrars keep records of how many canceled ballots there are; we certainly do at the actual polls)?
1 yr ago - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 3:16:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
(I'm not being snarky btw - elections are generally fairly local affairs, and if there was information about some people switching their votes, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't reported nationally.)
1 yr ago - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 3:25:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
No actual numbers were reported for the inquiries or the number of votes actually recast.

The number of inquiries received was given as background info for the report, basically saying that 'people have been asking, so we answer- - if you desire to change your early vote, that it is legal to do so in Wisconsin'.

Apparently they didn't actually listen to what Trump actually said if they think that Trump was encouraging his supporters to vote twice...

At best, he's completely ignorant of the fact that Colorado doesn't do void/re-vote (which only a very few states actually do). Which is fine, but if you don't know for sure that it's allowed, it's incredibly irresponsible to get up on stage and tell people it is.
1 yr ago - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 3:47:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
And I'm sure that's probably what happened - he probably heard about it being a thing in other states and just assumed you could do it in CO, too. He's long since demonstrated his complete lack of understanding of our government and election processes, so it's not exactly surprising. Nor is it surprising that he got up onstage and just talked out his ass.

"This comes down to a relatively unique aspect of Colorado’s voting system: It’s one of three states that does almost all of it is voting by mail. As part of that, the state sends voters ballots by mail, which voters then send back after filling them out. But if Coloradans lose or never receive their mail-in ballots or just want to get a new ballot before they mail their old one in, they can void their old ballots — the ones that they got by mail — and get a new ballot at a local election office that they can then file by mail or in person.

Trump, however, is stewing doubt about whether the mail-in system works. He doesn’t trust that people’s ballots are being counted. So he encouraged his supporters to obtain and file a new ballot, perhaps in person, instead."

Yeah, but that's not what he said.

Vox seems to think that it is- - and it isn't at all a right wing site...
1 yr ago - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 5:12:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
Just no. Vox explains how things in Colorado *actually* work, then goes on to talk about what Trump said.
1 yr ago - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 5:39:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
They clearly stated that Trump was not encouraging his supporters to vote twice, and went on to explain how the CO voter laws fit what he was saying.
1 yr ago - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 6:45:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Okie doke. That's not what I said - but you keep on defending your guy.

"Trump, however, is stewing doubt about whether the mail-in system works. He doesn’t trust that people’s ballots are being counted."

He's not telling people they can void their ballot and get one in person if they just plain don't receive theirs (or lose it before turning it in, or whatever). He's calling into question the legitimacy of the mail-in voting system in general, and telling people their votes are in danger of not being counted correctly so they should avoid it. That's very, very far from making sure people know they have the option of voting in person if there's some *actual* problem, *that they know about* with their mail-in ballot (such as never receiving it).

I'm sorry, but if you can't see how his constant undermining of the voting process is dangerous (and not just in THIS election, but for years to come), I don't know how else to explain it to you.

I don't think it's dangerous to question the integrity of the voting process. In fact, I think it's a good thing so that we are sure that we are having fair elections. The dirty dems will stop at nothing to get their people into office- - they've been busing people in to vote for 50 years, and they aren't stopping now...

Republicans are shutting down voting centers in Texas. But only ones close to high populations of Blacks.
