I suppose that's all true. I never really noticed a difference in taste, but I guess I can see that penne or ziti may not get easily coated on the inside with sauce. At Olive Garden, I like to get penne with alfredo just because if I get spaghetti, fettuccini or angel hair, I can't finish.

It depends on what kind of mood I'm in, really. Sometimes, I'll twirl it on the fork if I don't mind the mess. But, when I don't feel like dealing with dangly, messy little noodles, I'll cut it up so it's easier to manage.

I used to break the spaghetti noodles in half to cook them, but then I found that it made it harder to twirl the noodles because they were too short, so I quit doing that.

No, that is sick and WRONG!
I twirl it around a fork and shove it in my mouth.

BTW, I never heard of people putting pasta in their chili. Doesn't seem very Italian to me, I guess.

Yeah, but in chili? That's weird! And sounds gross.
Especially spaghetti. I could see MAYBE some rotini. Even that weirds me out.

I realize that, but I've never heard of anyone putting ANY kind of noodles in chili. Not even flat egg noodles that aren't considered pasta. Any chili I've ever had has pretty much been meat, veggies, beans and maybe some cheese.

MAYBE some cheese?
Cheese is a definite!!! I'm appalled that you might consider chili without cheese.

Well, I've been to events that didn't have it. Oh, believe me, if cheese is an option, I'm having cheese! And not just a little sprinkling either. A GREAT BIG PILE OF IT!!

The chili places in Cincinnati offer theirs over spaghetti.
I hadn't really seen it much until I moved to Wisconsin- - the chili places here all offer chili that way. I tried it and liked it...

has it never occured to anyone to break the spaghetti noodles in half before boiling them? what's to enjoy when you're slopping it everywhere?
I do this and have never had a problem using a fork or a spoon

As I said before I would do that but other people I am cooking for (usually my boyfriend) like their spaghetti long, so we keep it long and I just cut up my share when it's on my plate.

Only if I'm in public. I don't want to embarrass myself by getting sauce all over my face.

Fork it.
Sometimes I cut it with a fork with ramen noodles, but in no way are there spoons/ knives out when I eat.

I did up until I was eight.
Then I learned how to twirl.
