Have you people been skiing anywhere other than your local bunny slope? Absolutely it should be encouraged. I don't wear a helmet if I'm going skiing with someone who's a beginner, but if I'm going with my snowboarding pals, or with a few mogul crazies I know, I slap that baby on...

Snowboarding is different, those people are crazy and should wear a helmet, LOL ... But skiing? The last three times I went skiing I never fell down once, and that was on black diamond runs. Unless you run into a tree, I don't see how a helmet would help anyone. If you fall, you fall on snow, it's not concrete :P

If you fall on snow at the speeds I ski at, it's an awful lot like concrete... Besides, moguls and other skiiers are pretty hard...

Other skiiers have about 1.5 inches of padding on them, how is that hard?
The only time I crashed was when I was bombing a nice, long course, when I went over a jump, went about 15 feet into the air and landed flat on my back. I almost broke my rented skis, both my boots were almost off, my hat and goggles were up the hill, my poles were halfway down the hill, and so was my other ski. I couldn't breathe for about 50 seconds, was pretty freaky. That's what I get for going unprepared over a jump.

If you want to go skiing in my school, you'd need a helmet. But it could be because people likes throwing snowballs with stones in on each other.

Yup, tell me about it, all motrocycle riders, all people under age 16 for bikes and some counties are asking for skateboarding as well but sooner or later it will go US wide.

I can understand it being encouraged, but enforced??? geez... I would think it only should if its a passenger on a motorcycle under 16 or something...
Does the skateboarding and biking apply to skate and bike parks, or just streets?

Bikes are everywhere aged 16 and under, skateboarding is in parks for now but that will change.

Cant cover all the streets but you can cover the parks besides most parks have insurance that requires it but some cops do hand out tix for it if they want.

I think so... I was unconcious for a long time from a snowboarding fall, and my friend was comatose for 6 months from a skiing fall on a small area in Michigan.

How about racers, eh? I think many of us would be dead without helmets. Might I add that wearing skin tight, paper-thin racing suits are not the best protection when you're flying down the mountain at absolute top speeds.

I'm in this ski/snowboard club where we go on trips about 4 times a year. One of my friends constantly complained about the rule where everyone *must* wear a helmet.
On the second day of the trip, he smashed into a tree and literally broke it WITH HIS HEAD... and then hit *another* tree with his head.
But nevermind that, HELMETS ARE UNCOOL AND LOOK STUPID.
