I've been trying to find out the purpose of elections and voting recently, but I can't find much information that's relevant. Are people expected to give their opinion and then that's tallied up and whatever is most popular is implemented? Or are you supposed to use politics to make your vote get you what you want? Obviously people do the latter, but is that the way the system is intentionally designed?

^That. Although I'm really having a hard time to decide who to vote for next time.

Your choice should be easier than the giant douche-turd sandwich election we had this past year...

Well, the douche I wouldn't want to vote for is not as douchy as yours while the turd I'd usually vote for is a bit too turdy for me this time

I would if I was allowed. I can vote in the local elections, and I was able to vote in the Scottish referendum. Couldn't vote for or against brexit and can't vote in the General election coming up.

Another year I think, I haven't been home for almost six years and I think the cut off date is seven. I don't plan on going home though, so I don't think it's my business anymore.

i'm curious if anyone here has allegiance to any political party, like if they voted straight democrat, republican, third party or whatever political party you have if you're not from america.

i've voted for democrats in local elections, but local candidates tend to be nonpartisan for the most part. last year was the first time i voted libertarian, although i do agree with them on some issues (like making gay marriage and abortion non-political issues).
