A lot of films (as well as other works) actually refer to zombies as anything other than that word.

Also, 28 Days Later is a rip-off of 'Primal Rage' and so it's not as original as everyone thinks.

HIPSTER INSIGHT!

It's a crap film.

Does that help?

I do consider it to be....though, of course, I consider the zombies to be a separate, very distinct type from zombies like Night of the Living Dead type of zombies.

I would consider it a movie about "infected" people. Zombies are slow, shuffling, reanimated dead folks. 28 days/weeks deals with fast paced, rage infected people.

Zombies are not merely slow, shuffling reanimated dead folks. The term is not generally used exclusively to refer to one type....it's more of an umbrella term.

They can call them the 'infected' all they want in the film but I'd still classify it as a zombie film.

Hehe, umbrella term... X) Okay okay.
But, regardless of whether it is or not (not in my personal opinion), 28 Days (and Weeks) Later made me more paranoid than any other movie. I've never been so scared of any other movie-related thing than those infected people. I refuse to watch them ever again.
Jason? No problem. The Ring? Pfft. But these buggers... brr.

No, because you're 100% wrong.

Shakira, I side with George Romero when it comes to zombies. Reanimated dead. 28 days focused on people infected with a rage virus.

A dreadful string of cliches loosely tied together with dreary dialogue delivered by wooden actors.

Crap seems accurate to me.

I see 28 Days Later as a tight, well shot British horror film full of violence, gore and everything a growing boy needs (except boobies). What's not to love?

If you're looking for a crap apocalyptic British horror film, look no further than Doomsday. Even the presence of the ever lovely Kate Beckinsale couldn't save that pile of sh*te from being one of the worst films ever committed to film.

People infected with rage viruses can be categorized under the umbrella term of 'zombies'. 'Zombie' has been used to refer to the living.

Note: I consider 'reanimated dead' to be a different type under the same umbrella term.

I mean, you're welcome to your opinion.
But that's my opinion based on common use of the term and my observation of everything I've seen it applied to.

And 28 weeks later pretty much hits ALL of the typical zombie film characteristics. It looks like a zombie film, feels like a zombie film, has people who can be categorized as zombies...it's pretty much a damn zombie film and it would be bizarre to insist on putting it in a completely different category.

It is unfortunately true that I have.

Although I can't promise that in a nice warm, dark and comfortable cinema I didn't have perhaps a small nap.
