It PRODUCES weather (i.e. a drop in temperature, which often has knock on effects) but it is not weather in itself.

Yes, whether we talking the fact the sun is going below the horizon, or the display of light and color at sunset (as in: look at the beautiful sunset). As GS pointed out the former has an affect on weather (convection winds, for instance). The latter is weather.

I think a sunset is more an example of a time of day than weather. I see weather having to do with temperature and affects ( like rain and snow)
