Hmm... all I have to say is, let's look at the insight this question allows... should we choose to take notice. This is why the third party has such trouble... the Third Party is no more than a confusing meshing of a bipolar political system. People really do have a mess of a time thinking in 3D, don't we?

I think the message of libertarians and populists really resonate with Americans because we all have a touch of those ideas in us, all the way back to the founding of the country.

Nope, I assume they don't trust the government. For some reason when ever I think of libertarianism I think of anarchism... it's sort of a reflex.

You'd probably be less polite in your choice of words now.

My friend Mark is a libertarian. He thinks that the government should leave him alone, outside of providing basic services.

I'd assume that a druggie gun owner was a republican.

I'd assume 15 year old boy who doesn't leave his house. Or a member of anonymous. Actually definitely a member of anonymous.

As a Libertarian, I despise Anonymous more than... just about everyone else does.
Maybe I'm not a Libertarian.

Libertarians are OK. The Republican-lite faction can go straight to hell along with the paleoconservatives; but there are actually a fair number of libertarians who are somewhat culturally progressive and don't demonize working class people as leeching layabouts. I find these types to be less annoying than a lot of liberals, actually.

I once had a drunken conversation with a political scientist where I told him I was a libertarian (I meant liberal, just got the words mixed up and did not realise my error until much later) and things didn't go down well at all.
