So that's the picture I keep hearing about. She's really rather plain looking, isn't she.
The pics probably aren't appropriate for her audience, but she's 15 for crying out loud. People need to stop blaming her and blame her parents, her people and the photographer and magazine for allowing it to happen.

Scantily clad photos of attractive women are inappropriate, while scantily clad photos of plain women are ok? What kind of logic is that? If anything, it should be the other way around. |

I think her handlers were naive to allow her to pose in that way.
I'm sure they thought that it would project some kind of image that would allow her to progress to a more mature role over time but the photographer is obviously going to go for maximum instant impact.
She got pwned.

I don't see too many people blaming her TBH.
If anything I see this as a high profile example of how easy it is for young girls to be manipulated by the media with or without consent from their advisors.
All you get to see is the one image. You don't see how it was set up or what the girl thought the shot was trying to convey, you just see what the photographer captured. |

I found her comment on the photo interesting: "really artsy. It wasn't in a skanky way. And you can't say no to Annie."
She makes it seem like she didn't have a choice in the matter or something.

I think the Leibowitz shot is fine. She doesn't look overly sexy - she looks more like a kid to me.
It certainly could have been done in a very sexualized way, but as is, I think the shot actually shows off her innocence more than anything else.

I have to say though that is generally not a very flattering picture of her, ( as in not to do with the pose). I find it a bit weird, she's only fifteen. It's not sexy or anything though so it could be a lot worse.

Ugh, you know.
I don't really think they're that racy from what I've seen, but it's ridiculous listening to people rambling over the photos not on principle, but because she's "ugly".
It wouldn't make it any less disturbing taking photos of an underaged pretty girl straddling a piece of furniture than an underaged plain girl straddling a piece of furniture.
It's one thing to be offended by it because you believe she's being exploited or whatever, but quite the other when you make a double standard like that.

I don't think so because I truly can't see anything sexual in the photo. Perhaps people projecting their own sexual ideas onto 15 year old girls is a problem. If she were fully clothed but in a very sexual pose truly meant to provoke sexual thoughts in other people - sure, I would consider that inappropriate. The lack of clothes isn't what immediately makes a photo THAT sort of photo.
Basically, I think that photo is a beautiful photo, but not a very sexual one.

The picture shown here is the only one I've seen, if I had a daughter an oil painting in that style would be welcome in my living room, as for the people complaining I believe most of them are backward and they would burn the "birth of Venus" by Botticelli (1444-1510). I'm also happy we have these complainers, they make me feel good, intelligent and happy not being as stupid as I think they are.
A picture of me taken by a professional photographer when I was 2 or 3 years old laying naked butt up on a sheep skin would now get my parents in jail as dangerous incestuous pedophile deviants. mind boggles.

I don't think the pictures themselves aren't a big deal. But I hate how they're all saying it's totally natural. She looks like she's dead or dying. Her face is really pale and she has bright red lipstick.
As for the unofficial photo scandal she was pulling down her shirt to show her bra and then there was one where she was in her bra and panties draped over her boyfriend. She's 15. Leave her alone and let her have a life.

She and her parents OKed the photo; can't blame the photographer for releasing it without permission. As for the one with the boyfriend... she's in the public eye. Guess she needs to be more careful about what she's doing around other people.
