Well, I know that the mammary glands are in the breasts so, therefore if she has them she must be a mammal?

Without an original, long-form birth certificate, how can we be sure?

I think they lay eggs. I'm assuming the breasts are a result of the mutation which created the mermaid in the first place.

Are you suggesting that Pacific and Indian mermaids may be different - dare I say it - class?
8 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Thursday 5/17/12 - 10:28:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think they are in the same categories as dragons and unicrons right ? : )
8 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Thursday 5/17/12 - 11:21:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. Mammals can't breathe under water.

If mermaids breathe underwater, why do they live on rocks? The breasts must be air sacs.

Unicorns are clearly mammals, and I'd venture that dragons are reptiles!

Mermaids have been shown breathing underwater, and above water. It's so confusing!
And sure they probably have mammary glands, but do they give live birth? Or do they belong in the echidna/platypus category?
8 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 5/18/12 - 5:15:36 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe they're some sort of mutant lungfish?

Well, when I think about the most important aspect of being a mermaid - or apparently a lungfish - the relevant question is "is it sexy?". If the answer is yes, I'm pretty sure it can't be a lungfish. And if the answer is no, then I'm pretty sure it can't be a mermaid.

Basically, mermaids and lungfish definitely in two mutually exclusive categories based just on sexiness.

Upon deep contemplation, I find that you are quite correct here.

Could be. Don't they sometimes undergo metamorphosis and lose the tail/gain some legs?
8 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 5/19/12 - 2:38:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
do they have nipples?
