no boring answers about how none should be criticized

In order to not seem boring, yes.
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 2/16/12 - 11:28:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
(at least it would take some of the heat off her boring music)
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 2/16/12 - 11:36:36 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, because she's not really that heavy.

Sure, compared to pretty much any other women on a magazine, she's enormous, but dump her in any average mall? Maybe a little plump, but still pretty average.

Bitching about her weight would be kinda similar to bitching about the Rupert Grint bong pics.

She's no Mama Cass, and he's no Amy Winehouse.

she can hit the gym every now and then, in fact all of us could.
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 1:19:04 AM EST (GMT-5)
its not necessarily something she can control...
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 1:26:51 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't think being overweight is as much of an issue as illegal drug abuse. It affects health...but isn't so drastic, scary, or illegal.

And Adele isn't super out of control obese...
So, it's not like an, "OH MY GOD SOMEBODY TAKE THAT HAMBURGER OUT OF HER HAND RIGHT NOW" situation.

It's like...
If someone is underweight but not out of control underweight...we don't criticize them. Simply being underweight CAN be a health issue (but not always) and it's not THAT big of an issue. It only really becomes a huge issue when someone is hurdling towards starvation.
Same with overweight vs obese.

No but I still do not like her

She looks pretty normal to me...

No.

The nasty, bitter things that people who don't know you say about you are generally a litmus of how successful you are.

9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 9:40:21 AM EST (GMT-5)
Should anybody?
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 10:39:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'm guessing that she is already aware that she's carrying a few pounds.

So I'm not sure who would benefit from criticism. She'd learn nothing new from it. Her fans would learn nothing new from it. Those who are vaguely aware of her existence (me!) would learn nothing new from it.

Maybe, just maybe those who wish to criticise are doing so out of jealousy. Why is that beautiful, curvaceous girl a successful singer and I'm not? Boo F*cking Hoo.

Here's why: she had 2 things you don't, talent and determination.

I don't think it's fair to criticise the weight of someone who is famous because of her singing voice; it's not like she claims to be a model. Her weight is totally unrelated.

There are a very small percentage of people for which this is true. So small, that it's not a reasonable argument unless you know something about her medical history that nobody else does.

You know what I love?

That everyone takes Adele SO seriously.

A fat person in walmat - HILARIOUS joke and there are whole websites dedicated to this.
Adele - HOW DARE YOU...she wrote like two albums of stalkery songs that arnt that great, how could you?

very serious
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 2:47:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. People shouldn't care how others live their lives as long as they're not doing anything illegal.
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 4:14:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
to be fair why would being illegal matter?

Lots of people do drugs that hurt themselves only
9 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 2/17/12 - 4:27:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
Adele's weight is about as damaging to her health as a joint a week.

Prognosis: not very.

I think the cultural misconception that thinness is necessarily a sign of health and that fatness is necessarily a sign of unhealth is destructive. If a heavyset person exercises regularly and eats relatively well, they could be much healthier than a thin person who doesn't take care of him or herself.

I would also argue that she should not criticized for her weight on the principle than Amy Winehouse or other public figures who have self-destructive habits should be criticized either. If they can contain their problems so that they don't harm other people, it's their own cross to bear and it's not my place to stick my nose into it.

also how many thin girls have been told to "eat a hamburger" or that they are anorexic ?
