"I do have a problem with an enumerable, codified universal morality, particularly when those codified morals express as negatives."
I think you are thinking of the 10 commandments. But I don't think that is what the moral is. I think those are guidelines for following that actual morals which Christ spoke as the greatest commandment and the second.

"It's like me saying that nobody can be good unless he's good on his own initiative without having to be prodded to by some higher power (and threatened with hell if he isn't and rewarded with heaven if he is) "
It is this crap. this crap right here that makes me glad to take a break of YT occasionally. no matter how often it is refuted, it come back up. This is not part of Christian theology. Period. and it won't matter how many times I show you, you will not change your mind. Which is weird, because you insist that people you do not know who belong to a faith you do not claim believe it. It is a straw-man, an ugly lie of a straw-man.

All I have to say about those two commandments, in practical use, is have fun deriving every action possibility from those two statements!

Well, that is why clarification is given. Jesus spent a little while hanging with the apostles teaching other than just saying that and turning them loose. then there is that whole prayer/relationship with the deity (holy spirit) part.

BINGO!
This is how I feel about the whole "Morality is only possible as part of religion"-spiel.
Which is why I said "This would be like me saying...."

Which we were pretty close to arriving at a semantic impasse on. But I didn't tell a lie, at least not one I knew was a lie or call anyone an asshat going there.

This really has me pissed. You mean you made poo up about my faith - stuff you know is untrue - because you don't like be called amoral by a definition of moral that you don't even agree with?

I'm just saying, you can't own the definition of 'moral' anymore than I could own the definition of 'good'.
I just took that stuff as an example, I didn't even implicate any specific religion.
Basically, my point is that you can't say that your self serving definitions of common terms have any more validity than anyone elses.

god hates gays, so I hate him too. (If you are talking about the Christian god) I don't believe in him, much less worship.

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
