It just seems more sanitary to leave the whole seat down (both parts) when not in use. Also, it seems more appropriate. Kind of like shutting a cabinet after you get something out of it and whatnot. |

I think both are at fault. Is it really that hard to put the seat down?
And for the record, at my mom's house, with my mom and sister, I am the only one of us three that puts the seat down. |

When not in use both parts of the seat should be down. That's what the lid is for. It's also good to keep odors and sewer rats contained. |

Oh I'll admit, it should be common sense for guys to put the seat back down. The default position is down and so it should be. Both sexes need to sit on the John but only one sex can stand while going. Since I live in a house full of females, I don't ever forget to put the seat back down anymore :| |

A woman goes pee. Seat down (one point)
A woman goes #2. Seat down (+1 point)
A man goes pee. Seat up (one point)
A man goes #2. Seat down (+1 point)
So the score is:
Seat down 3 to Seat up 1

I guess men, because women don't move it at all, men do...so they should put it back they way they found it.
But for the record I don't understand why women get so mad over it...they always say "Is it THAT hard to put the seat back down?" Obviously not...so they could do it themselves. I don't mind putting it back down after a man has used it, it's not that big of a deal. |
