Do you think teenagers having less time unsupervised (and less places to go that are unsupervised) has a negative and harmful effect on them?

if they are alwayse watched then they can't join gangs and do drugs and screw up their lives. plus they don't do things with their family alot so they don't respect their parents and they act like punks.

If teenagers are constantly supervised that doesn't seem a bit overprotective to you?

(It was meant to be OVERsupervised and over protected in the story though...)

Not really. Overprotection comes in when the 'supervisor' steps in and prevents the teen from doing stuff and making mistakes. Proper supervision involves being close enough to prevent bad mistakes if/when necessary or to help the teen face the consequenses of his/her bad decisions.

I beleive the oppisite actually. It's a dangerous world now, and you never know what kind of people are influencing your children or trying to take advantage of them. Sure, you could play sink or swim and set them loose at 13 to fend for themselves better or worse, but there are better (not to mention less risky) ways to learn than that. Aside from looking out for your teen's safety, which should be reason enough to watch them closely, you will also have a chance to give them advice and guidance so they can make better decisions on their own.

i would die if my parents supervised me any more than they already do.

they have to know where i am and phone me every hour or so. the time i have to be home isnt so bad though, 10 at the latest on weekends unless theres a party going on or something, and 7.30 during the week.

i love not being supervised, cause it means me and my friends can do what we like.
