Non fiction. Otherwise the fundamental Christians will Molotov the place.

I would think they place it in the non-fiction.

Wanderer... You shouldn't know that. That's all I'm gonna say.
12 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 6/16/07 - 9:53:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
All of the numbered series are non-fiction.

Note that the bible itself is Dewey Decimal Number 220.

And, I think this question is intentionally provocative. Almost all libraries use the Dewey Decimal System, and I'm not aware of ANY library that puts the Bible in the Fiction section.

I shouldn't know what?

I'm a bookworm.

Well they have to, it would be demeaning to the religious beliefs of the people. Even if someone doesn't believe in God or the bible that's a scientific belief associated with scientific religion. If they where place the bible under fiction because the fat is no one can actually say what is and whats not for the creation of earth, they would also have to put science books relating to theories (big bang, evolution, etc.)and place those in the fiction section as well because they are not proven, they too are theoretical ideas. I do believe all science books are placed in the non-fiction section, making only fair that the bible be placed in the non-fiction as well. Besides who's it hurting being in the non-fiction area anyway... no one.

Well, since it is a well-known fact that Christ did indeed exist, and teach, why is it bullsh*t to put the Bible in the non-fiction section? Or are you just a dumass who thinks their own opinion on religion is the only one that matters?

That is news to me... when did we decide Christ existed? when did it become a FACT?
" put science books relating to theories (big bang, evolution, etc.)and place those in the fiction section as well because they are not proven"
umm, excuse me? but information corresponding to reality and actually backed up by evidence is true. There is plenty of evidence of evolution and the big bang, keep in mind what a scientific theory is, while there is no evidence for the bible containing a lick of truth. and assuming there is.. why not put gone with the wind into the non-fictional section? it talked about historical happenings and it doesn't hurt anyone to believe that it happened... please learn to think better. are people so hard headed these days?
12 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 5:14:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
There's substantial evidence that a man named Jesus Christ did exist. It's whether he is the messiah that's debated.
12 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 5:19:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
Non-Fiction doesn't mean it has to be completely true. A lot of books that go into non-fiction sections would fail that test.
12 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 5:25:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
They just put it in the "Religious Studies" studies section.

Precisely. It is a theory and until the scientific community learns to accept their own terminology, which clearly states that a theory is not the final measure of truth, this will continue. Also explain to me one simple thing: how does something come from nothing? That is the big bang in a nutshell, you know.

Damn it I tried to add this question.

They should put it under the "bullsh*t" section
12 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 7:39:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
By the way, the Koran, the Satanic Bible, the Bagivad Gita, the Book of Mormon, the Tao Te Ching, and how to read Tarot Cards are ALL placed in the non-fiction section.
12 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 7:43:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
First of all, it's in the religion section, so I'm sure there are other religious texts other than the Bible in that section, and of course not everyone is going to believe everything in there. Secondly, I think people put things in the nonfiction section that are claimed to be true, whether you believe they are or not. I mean nobody claims that Harry Potter is a true story, and it wasn't written as one, so of course it wouldn't be in the nonfiction section. Many people believe the Bible is truth, whether everybody does or not. Plus I'm sure there are many things in the nonfiction section that not everyone believes. Like anything about the Big Bang, which many people don't believe. But, there are also many people that do believe it, so it deserves to go in the nonfiction section.
