A few years ago, my science teacher told us that Seasonal Affective Disorder was just doctors being goofy and made being sad a disease.

It's a disorder, not a disease.

I know that many people way up in Scandinavia have it. It's one of the reasons why they have such a high suicide rate.

I don't but a few people I know would claim to have it.

I used to think so, but now not so much. I think my depression had more to do with how my life was going.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Wednesday 1/3/07 - 4:55:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
I always feel more down in the winter time and in the transition into winter.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Wednesday 1/3/07 - 5:00:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
I have Summer SAD. It's even less common than SAD, but real.

OMG YES!! ESPECIALLY IN WINTER!
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 1/14/07 - 4:38:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well yes, yes I do ...though I wouldn't attribute it to some sort of "disorder." Whatever, I'll move to a place that's warmer year-round, no more SAD for me.

Seems there's a "disorder" for everything these days. It's called LIFE.

13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 1/14/07 - 4:58:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I like aspects of all the seasons.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 1/14/07 - 5:02:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't know. I hate summer, but I don't think it's because of "SAD". I just hate hot weather.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 1/14/07 - 5:03:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope, I doubt it.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 1/21/07 - 12:39:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes.

And that's probably why most people in the Northeast are f-cking miserable too.

Who the hell wants 6 months of winter? Not me.

13 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 4/3/07 - 5:50:24 AM EST (GMT-5)
i guess it's normal to have some variation with the sun. I don't see mine as a disorder.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 8/22/07 - 12:22:49 AM EST (GMT-5)
i always get really depressed during the winter, the past winter was the worst. i began having anxiety attacks once or sometimes twice a week at the worst, and over things that normally wouldn't bother me. but i had a complete turnaround a few weeks after i began going outside again in the spring.
12 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 11/20/07 - 9:22:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
Winter's my favorite season, course I don't get sad.
12 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 11/20/07 - 9:27:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
