I think they alway start them on time, but probably not.

But maybe. If you bought a ticket 30 min into it and then showed up and it wasn't playing, they couldn't just start it then

Nope, they cancel that showing of the movie. My best friend works at a theater and we go every week to watch movies there for free, and the manager told us one time that if no one else was going to see the movie we wanted to see, he wouldn't screen it for that time slot.

I actually run a movie theater and the movie does not play if customers do not show up. We will usually wait about 5 or ten minutes to see if somebody does come but after that. No showing.

I think they should...I mean I guess if it's bad enough no one's there in the beginning chances are no one's showing up but it just seems wrong to not screen it...

What's wrong about it? It's a waste of time because if it's the last showing of the night you can just close up early instead of spending needless time and money.

I used to work at a theatre, and yes, they show the movie even if no one's there.
I remember them screening lots of movies even though no one was in them.

Not a poll question. You'd think a mod would know that these aren't allowed but of course not.

Whats really annoying is when you go to a late night movie, and they forget to start it.
13 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 10/31/06 - 12:22:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, they do. Just in case someone decides to show up late.
13 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 10/31/06 - 12:38:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
They probably would to keep in time with the start times
13 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 10/31/06 - 12:46:11 PM EST (GMT-5)

If they still play the movie or not, we'll never know, becuase we were never there.

If a tree falls and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?

If a movie is scheduled and nobody sees it, does it get played?

Ah shut up.

I've wondered about this before, and looking at these response, I guess it depends on the cinema.
