no, it's just a way of delaying getting hurt. in fact, you might ge thur tmore, for beign so bloody far behind in your social development.

if you're asking this as guidance on whether or not to allow you child to "date", my suggestion is an absolute yes. do the absolute best you can to make sure (s)he can recognize and appreciate a healthy relationship, by all means, but theres no possible benefit to just saying "no."

No not really.. peopel of all ages get hurt my relationships... its just part of life
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 7/20/06 - 5:42:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, part of maturing in life is experiencing life.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 7/21/06 - 2:59:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not at all. Better to learn the "in's-and-out's" of dating early, rather than later.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 7/22/06 - 2:19:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, getting hurt is inevitable.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 7/22/06 - 2:22:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, people of all ages get hurt while dating.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Sunday 7/23/06 - 6:45:15 AM EST (GMT-5)
a bit of a parody question methinks--and yes this time it is a viable solution. Within reason at least. I could understand a ten year old not wanting to date, for example, because they weren't ready.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Sunday 7/23/06 - 11:21:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not at all, it will only delay it...HOWEVER that delay in dating may make it easier for someone with more life experience to handle.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 7/24/06 - 10:59:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
I never dated. And... I still haven't dated...

And I'm legally mature...

Have I been hurt? Yes. Have I been hurt less than if I had dated? I have no idea.

i dont relly thing there should be an "age" limit for anything. maybe maturity, for some things... but not everything.
dating, i dont think there should be a level when you should be allowed. it, like others have said, is just delaying the inevitable.
"HOWEVER that delay in dating may make it easier for someone with more life experience to handle."
maybe that person would have more life experience, but not any experience with deep reqaltionships... the only way to be ready for dating is to date. no matte how old you are.

It will not help to avoid being hurt, but it may help in being able to deal with it. You don't want to be over-sensitive to it and you also don't want to have broken up so many times that you are insensitive to it. Break-ups are supposed to hurt, otherwise you probably shouldn't have been dating the person in the first place.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 8/5/06 - 8:28:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
Short answer - no. It doesn't matter how mature you are, in all different relationships, you will sustain a certain degree of pain.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 8/5/06 - 8:34:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
My first reaction was that you may have grown a thicker skin if you wait, but on second thought, that can't happen without hurt.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 8/13/06 - 12:02:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well, you postpone the pain.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 8/26/06 - 3:11:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not really.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 8/26/06 - 4:34:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not really. All 3 girls I have dated were far less mature than me.
14 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Monday 8/28/06 - 10:34:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well, dating doesn't really get serious until 16+. The rest of the time, women are just gold digging.

But even if you're not dating, you can still get hurt. I had a major crush on this girl a couple years back, until I found out that she was calling me a retard (which is among the cleaner vocabulary she used) behind my back.

Nice use of big words *rolls eyes*

Everyone matures at different times. And once they do, the answer's yes.

14 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Saturday 12/23/06 - 10:34:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
no, it isn't
14 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 12/24/06 - 6:44:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not really. You get hurt even if you're not dating.
14 yrs ago - Monday 1/29/07 - 10:14:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
Who says that love doesn't hurt in your adulthood?
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 10/8/07 - 6:13:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
You don't stop getting hurt as you mature. Well, your chance doesn't decrease, at least.
13 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Tuesday 11/13/07 - 7:33:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
You hurt, but you are able to deal with the hurt in a mature way, versus an immature way.
13 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Tuesday 11/13/07 - 7:39:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
You're bound to get hurt at any age, if a relationship doesn't go the way you'd planned.
13 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 11/14/07 - 2:54:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, you won't be mature enough to handle dating until you've practiced it and been hurt a few times. It's par for the course.
