Yes, our Chihuahua wont wear a collar, it freaks him out to have anything around his neck, so we had a microchip injected several years ago...

Still works too, when moved across the country, we had it tested at the new vet...

I had my cat and dog microchipped while they were under anesethisia for neutering/spaying. They didn't feel the insertion.

We also had tags on the dog, but the cat always got rid of her tags, so we finally gave up on that.

Microchipping makes it more likely that your pet will be returned to you, even if he/she looses his/her tags. Around here, they check all animals at the shelter for microchips before they offer them for adoption or put them to sleep.

They also check all cats/dogs that have been hit by cars and killed for a microchip.

I wish I had. My cat ran away a few months ago, and we never found her. I think maybe if I'd had her microchipped, maybe we might have.

14 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 6/10/06 - 6:30:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope. We had to get rid of my cats yesterday because they were sick and we didn't have money for the medication.

No, I don't believe in planting an unnatural device into a natural being.

So...you've never had your teeth filled?
14 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 6/29/06 - 1:18:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
Well i guess i'd have to say yes, i adopted a cat who already had it done before we bought her. I don't mind, they are really a good idea for cats. It's not like it hurts either.
14 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 6/29/06 - 1:20:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes she is. She also has a rather cool tattoo on her inner left ear for ID which was put on her while she was a homeless puppy in the pound.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Sunday 7/30/06 - 11:39:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
Of my five dogs, two of them are. I just haven't gotten around to doing it for the others.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 8/5/06 - 12:22:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I doubt I would ever do that.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 8/5/06 - 12:34:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, my pets don't need to be microchipped as they're purely housebound.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 8/5/06 - 2:28:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, my cats don't go outside, so there's no point.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 8/5/06 - 2:45:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I've never thought about it, but it would be a good idea to have that done when they're neutered or fixed.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 8/14/06 - 2:23:09 AM EST (GMT-5)
I have a cat and she never goes outside so we don't see the need.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 9/6/06 - 11:25:16 PM EST (GMT-5)

14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 10/21/06 - 3:08:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
My kitten Atticus has a 'chip. It is mandatory and free at the shelter we got him from. And it doesn't hurt them, either. It is tiny, inserted through a needle into the animal's back, just under the skin. It itches for a few days, but it doesn't hurt them.
