Yes, spending that much money is not going to bring back the dead.

Why does everything need an effing memorial, that's what I want to know!
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 6/4/06 - 1:10:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
That's a lot for a memorial. I can't even imagine what all that money is going to build.

Penn and Teller actually did a whole special about how the government has squandered 5 years and countless millions trying to rebuild on that site and build a proper memorial. They constantly mess it up by giving out behind the door contracts to archetects who don't know anything about high rise's or memorials, and they NEVER let people make a democratic decision on it, the families of the victims haven't even been consulted on what kind of memorial they want.

Yes, unless they're building a "Why They Hate Us Pavilion" like Bill Maher suggested.

I think that they should take that money and put it to better use. Find out if any of those families need some kind of aid and help them out. If there are other people there that need some kind of aid of some sort help them out too. Is it really necessary for us to build a memorial?

I probably sound super-ignorant saying this but I didn't even know they were building a memorial...
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 8/15/06 - 5:51:29 AM EST (GMT-5)
We wouldn't want to spend any of that money on the many poor people living in poverty. Would we?
14 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Saturday 1/13/07 - 9:26:30 AM EST (GMT-5)
Here's another thing that I wasn't asked before all my taxes got wasted on something ridiculous and unnecessary.
If the government wants to spend my money behind my back, there could at least be a cause behind it. AIDS research maybe? Perhaps some more teachers in our schools? ANYTHING besides a stupid monument?
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 5/28/07 - 9:36:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
could feed the homeless right down the street from the memorial with that. or clean up the ghettos on the other side.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 5/28/07 - 9:38:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
A memorial isn't going to solve anyone's problems. That money could be put to much better use.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 5/28/07 - 9:44:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, that is a bit too much to spend.
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 10/20/07 - 7:25:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
i don't get why memorials should have to cost so much money?Im sure the people who it supposed to be commemorating would prefer the money went on something worthwhile, like some new hospital equipment or donations to charity.
