Yes, but if they do something TOTALLY stupid, then I can't stand up for an idiot, family or not.

No, not the arseholes of my family. I defend those who I love. I don't love arseholes. My family is full of arseholes.

I don't defend them when they're in the wrong and I know it, but in any other situation, probably.

Publicly, yes I will. Privately may be another matter all together.

Sort of. I call my mom a "bitch" and my brother a "low-life" all the time. If anyone ELSE said it, though, I'd be ready to fight them. I'm the only one who's allowed to insult my family.

Nope. You can say anything you want about any of my family members. They are fair game, just like anyone else.

Stand up for somewho who deserves to be stood up for, if they happen to be related fine if not thats alright. I won't stand up for a family member if they don't deserve it.

Yes. I can say what I want about my family, but when someone else does I have to defend them.

Everyone except for my cousin and her brother, they are self-centered bastards and they deserve to be insulted.

There are things that my family could do that I couldn't defend but, yes, they have always been defended and I give them more benefit of the doubt than I do anybody else.

Yes. Just the other day I was joking around with my friends saying how ditzy my sister can be sometimes. Then a friend started making these comments about her and saying "She's soooo stupid!" and laughed about it. I got quite offended and felt that I should defend her. I just didn't like the fact that she didn't even know my sister well enough to make those kind of comments.

Yes and the feeling should come naturally in most people but that doesn't mean we would defend them from punishment of committing a stupid act.

Defend against some verbal attack? It really depends... like the time my dad said the *n-word* in a parking garage and a group of people starting calling him names? No, I didn't defend him. He was wrong and I couldn't rightly defend him.

I would only feel the need to defend those that I think would defend me.
