Not to become. Their fatalism kills me.
7 yrs ago - Monday 5/15/06 - 10:13:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
Both.

Even though they weren't very good parents in general (I would NEVER entrust any child of mine to them), they *did* have their admirable moments.

I want to be like my mum, but less embarassing (!) , but if I turn out like my dad there is no way I'm having kids.
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 1:37:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
neither i want to have a really successful life
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 1:38:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
I looked to my parents for guidance when i was a youth but then took everything they taught me and seperated it into my own outlook.
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 1:39:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Hope to be. My parents are what parents should strive to be. Not too strict, not too lenient, and very supportive.
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 5:23:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
I am already very different from them in my actions and beliefs, so I don't hope to be like them.
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 5:34:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't want to become my mom, I want to become my daddy.
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 5:35:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
I sound young when I say daddy
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 5:43:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
Definitely not like my mother, she had her moments I'll give her that. But I cannot be, I will not be, HER. It's not her fault though.

Secret: WE will end up being them in one way or another, inevitable really. But at least not completely* like them, and with that I'll be okay and :probably: you will to.

7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 5:45:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
In terms of work habits and career, I hope I can become half as successful as either one of them.
In terms of relationships and parenting, however, well, let's just say that I plan to neither marry nor breed now.
7 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/16/06 - 8:07:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
bit of both
7 yrs ago - Wednesday 5/17/06 - 5:09:21 AM EST (GMT-5)
In all honesty, I look up to them so I'll know what NOT to do. My mom's spending habits are horrifying, she's constantly going to the check casher places and I don't even want to know how many tens of thousands of dollars of debt she's in.
6 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 5/30/06 - 11:57:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
Both, for reasons too complicated to explain right now.
6 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/14/06 - 7:23:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
Honestly, what not to be like. I wouldn't want their relationships, their spending habits, or their success in their careers. It's a little sad, actually.
6 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/14/06 - 7:28:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
My dad always told me he did everything so I could have a better life and job than him, that he works with his hands so I don't have to. I love and admire him so I hope that, jobwise, I become nothing like him, he doesn't want me to a painter like he is, and neither do I.

As far as who he is as a person, there are some things I definately admire about him, although we disagree on certain things morally I definately look up to him.

6 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/14/06 - 8:17:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
A combination of both.
6 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 7/18/06 - 3:52:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
Neither, really. While they're both great people I have this thing about individualism.
6 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 7/18/06 - 5:11:59 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not to become.
6 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 7/18/06 - 5:15:29 AM EST (GMT-5)
In regards to career: Hell Yes! I would love to make my mother's income alone.

In regards to everything else: Hell No!

6 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 7/24/06 - 7:22:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
What not to become...and I did a darn good job of it, too!
6 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 7/29/06 - 12:36:15 AM EST (GMT-5)
Drug addicted suburban trash? No thank you.
6 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 11/10/06 - 9:43:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'll probably be like them, but with a twist of me in what I do... so both.
6 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 11/11/06 - 10:08:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't look to them as an example at all. I just want to be who I am.
6 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 11/11/06 - 10:12:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
I hope to be like my mom.
She's a great parent.
