Not any more evil than, say, Wal-Mart. But evil is sort of a subjective and odd term here.

15 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 11/24/04 - 10:52:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, their coffee is the elixir of life.
15 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 11/24/04 - 10:55:42 PM EST (GMT-5)

Can't drink there coffee. There is too much caffiene in it and it affects my heart. I drank it once and I thought my heart was going to jump right out of my chest.

about as much so as any large corporate chain.

I'd like to post the Onion story, "Starbucks Begins Sinister 'Phase Two' of Operation," but apparently I need to buy a subscription to access their archives now. So just pretend I posted it.

Starbucks VS The Incredibles:

15 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Tuesday 11/30/04 - 9:08:43 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not really, never been into one...
15 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Tuesday 11/30/04 - 10:37:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
I prefer theonion headline "New Starbuck's opens in bathroom of existing Starbuck's."

As a corporate marauder running other coffee shops out of business, yes, they are evil. I hear they are really great to their employees, though, unlike other corporate fascists like McDonald's.

15 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Sunday 12/19/04 - 10:03:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not /pure/ evil, but slightly evil.
15 yrs ago - Friday 1/14/05 - 12:50:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't like their fancy drinks-- just the regular coffee. It's real coffee- nice and strong. A lot better than watered-down Dunkin Donuts coffee.
15 yrs ago - Friday 1/14/05 - 2:27:47 AM EST (GMT-5)
I like good coffee. Starbucks has this name, and people that don't really know coffee, think starbucks is great. Just like people think that Microsoft is great. They're both great at marketing and making money, not so hot at making a superior product. Personally, I see this as evil.

Give me some Monsoon Malabar and Novell or LINUX. You can keep your starbucks and Microsoft.

True they are no more evil than Wal-Mart, but Wal-Mart is about as evil as it gets.
Starbucks probably has some malice planned in the way getting the world caffeine addicted, and then controlling everyone's actions. They probably have a pact with Mountain Dew, to get the teenage generation as well.
But, I do enjoy a good conspiracy theory; you should hear all the possible government cover-ups I made up about Saddam and Osama.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 2/6/05 - 1:08:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nah, just bloody expensive.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 2/6/05 - 1:39:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
Starbucks is an inanimate object, and, as such, cannot be evil.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 2/6/05 - 2:31:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
