I feel that incoming players should within the next few years. They need to Grandfather it in the same way they did helmets years ago. That means that all players that are in the NHL prior to the new rule do not have to wear visors.

No. Halmets shouldn't have been forced either. The player knows the dangers, why should rules make them decide.

Um that's like saying Football players should be allowed to play padless...not too smart.

I think so, it's safer and isn't bad in any way at all.

Visors reduce the risk of serious eye injuries. The rules we play to here (I don't know if it's IIHF or UK-specific) say everyone born after 1977 has to wear a visor. Some players even choose to wear full visors/cages, even though they are not required to. The game isn't played to the same intensity as in the NHL, but there hasn't been a serious eye injury here this season *touches wood* because nearly everyone has their eyes protected.

I don't care what Don Cherry says, I think players will play with more flair if there is less risk of them getting seriously injured.

I agree. Here all levels up through College are required to wear visors.

I think that's a pretty good idea. Hockey players are usually fugly enough as it is.

Look first it's visors then vest then highly powerful lasers that protect you from incoming projectiles

why on earth would they require all incoming players to wear them but not the players that are already playing?? forgive me, but that's just stupid. if a safety hazard has been recognized and a solution is available then why not just require it for EVERYONE playing the game to make it fair for everyone straight across the board. all the atheletes should have the same advantages and disadvantages afforded to them by the rules to make individual skill the only real differentiating factor between players.

everyone should wear visors.

NO NO NO! The NHL should just go away.

"why on earth would they require all incoming players to wear them but not the players that are already playing??"

If they did that the players would refuse and the mess it could cause would be huge. With rules like this you have to bring them in slowly. That's how they brought in helmets. Within about 10 years almost all players had to wear them. There was less hassle because the players came into the NHL wearing helmets so for them it was no change. Now players going into the NHL have been wearing visors, so they are used to it and will adapt well.

Sounds like a reasonable safety precaution.

Why don't you go ask Berrard whether visors are needed, or Jacque Plante if goalies need hockey masks. Atheletes can be daring, and sometimes stupid, so the league needs to forcibely cover their asses.

What the heck is an incoming player?
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 7/12/04 - 10:38:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's funny, if you read the details of the last collective bargaining agreement, believe it or not helmets are not mandatory, but everyone wears one during games. They were mandatory in the second last CBA, but under the current one that expires September 15th if you are retarded enough to try it, you have the right to leave your noggin unprotected. Why? I have no drating idea. TSN has no idea either, they first reported this that I know about.

That would be smart but it is their choice.
13 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Monday 7/26/04 - 12:11:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think that they should require it. I mean, if you've ever seen a guy get hit in the eye with a stick or a puck, you don't really want to see it again.

Safety first, isn't that right?

Professional hockey sucks.
Who cares of they wear visors or not. They should be wearing skirts, the way they play the game no a days. Bunch of pansies.
