Yes, for dreams are just something that you call forth from your mind. I've done it lots of times. Oh wait, I'm more amoral. Sorry, I misread it.

Morality is just a construct of the human mind; since dreams are also such constructs, they are in the same context and thus can be related.

Just the other day I woke up mad at myself for what I did in a dream. I shall say no more...

Yes. Let's see I've: killed people, kidnapped people, beaten up people, and harrassed people in my dreams. And I know I won't do any of that in real life.

Hey, if I can have a dream that a cheese spitting horse is chasing me down, immortality is very possible.

Anything's possible in your dreams

I killed someone in a dream I had recently. It was interesting because in my dream I didn't feel that it was morally wrong. But I did feel like the effect it would have on the loved ones of the murdered person were wrong, and the effect it would have on my parents (knowing that I was a murderer) was wrong. Anyway, yes. I think it's possible both to act immorally and to feel like you're acting immorally in a dream.

"But I did feel like the effect it would have on the loved ones of the murdered person were wrong, and the effect it would have on my parents (knowing that I was a murderer) was wrong." That's what makes murder wrong, the effects on those left behind and the chaos it creates in society. A dead man has no feelings, a dead man does not suffer. I never pity the dead, just those who lost them.

Well, with all due respect, Wolf, it wasn't your dream, so your own morality doesn't apply. For me, depriving someone of the opportunity to live a full life is one of the things that makes murder a no-no.

Your morality makes more sense when you're sleeping. It's more logical. If you veiw depriving someone of a full life as a no no, than existing in and of itself can with a minor step of logic become a no no. We live by depriving trillions of organisms from living a full life. Some with emotions and a sense of purpose. Death is part of life and makes life possible. Still you are correct it's your morals not mine. If I cared about everything and everyone living a full life that was not my family, friends, and loved ones I'd go completely insane knowing how humans and other organism live from day to day. I'd starve to death.

Uh huh. My point is that your morality cannot apply in my dream, just as my standards of morality don't apply in yours. It would be impossible to judge the morality of my own dreams by any standards other than my own. You agree. I'm not willing to get into a debate about whose morals are the more logical ones.

I robbed a mall in my dreams and done some non-PG13 things. So yes, it is possible.

I'm curious to hear from kyry what he was thinking when he created this question, as I must side with most people here who say that you can do things against your own morals in a dream.

Uncle, it's an old question which bugged (I think) St Augustine. One can certainly dream of doing things which would be immoral if done in waking life, but the question is really whether one is being immoral in doing so. Essentially, this might be interpreted as a question of whether the immorality is in the moral decision one makes, rather than the actual consequent action. Another dimension would involve the degree to which we have genuine choice in dreams - often dreams seem to have a will of their own.
