We did the numbers thing throughout elementary school, but since then it's always been letters.
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 5:32:46 PM EST (GMT-5)

16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 5:54:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well, when it comes to actual grades, we get numbers (and it's only 1,2,3, and 4) but when it comes to talking to teachers, 4 is an A, 3 is a B, and so on.
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 1:37:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
Psycho-- A= 90-100, B= 80-89, C= 70-79, D=60-69, F=59% and under.

I know that you've said "I got an A on the test" or something. I know you have.

Everyone has the 0-100% thing, it's just that they have different characters to describe each.

I'm pretty sure, anyway.

My college goes that way but my high school did the "E".
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 2:27:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
nope

at school, we went by the percentage system followed by a score for effort that was added up. One had to achieve a good points score for effort, if not trouble would ensue.

Alpha plus - 3 points
Alpha - 2 points
Beta plus - 1 point
Beta - 0 points
Gamma - minus 1 point
Gamma minus - minus 2 points
Delta - minus 3 points
Delta minus - minus 4 points

We did 10 subjects, so one would need a score of at least 15 to be respectable.

Indeed we did
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 1/8/04 - 11:02:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
In college we had:

A = 4 points
AB = 3.5 points
B = 3 points
BC = 2.5 points
C = 2 points
CD = 1.5 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points (although when I started, an F grades didn't count in grade point calculations--I think that has changed)

16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 1/11/04 - 5:51:14 AM EST (GMT-5)
Hmmm, well we did have A - F all through school until GCSE's, when we also had A*'s which was the highest level you could achieve. But then I also did the IB which uses levels 1 - 7.
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 1/27/04 - 5:36:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes I do, that's all I'm gonna say.
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 1/27/04 - 5:42:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
My uni had four different grading sysems at one point. Weekly problems were marked out of ten. Tests were out of 100. projects marked alpha, beta, etc. and lecture problems got A, B, C, etc.

A friend at school said he felt it was unfair how his school complained he got A's for achievement, but E's for effort.
He said 'But surely that's the best mark you can get! It means I'm doing as well as possible without even having to try!'

16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 1/27/04 - 5:46:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
Our school uses percents and letters but instead of a letter "F" it's a "U." It stand for "Unsatisfactory" and the reason they changed it was because parents were complaining that sending their child home saying they failed damaged their child's self esteem. Oh boo hoo. Cry me a river and i'll build you a bridge so you can get over it.
16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 1/27/04 - 5:48:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
During elementary and high school we had the usual A [+/-], B, C, D and F. We never had an E.

At uni, we use HD, D, C, P and F.

16 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 1/28/04 - 2:28:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
It went 1-7...just to be awkward.
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Sunday 2/8/04 - 6:58:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
At college we have A,B,C,D,E,U (ungraded). In school we had numbers 1 to 8, the grades A,B,C,D,E,F,G,U.
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Sunday 2/8/04 - 7:26:17 AM EST (GMT-5)
Mine went by A, B, C, I, F.
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Sunday 2/8/04 - 8:24:39 AM EST (GMT-5)
for our GPA we use numbers 0.0-4.0 but on our report card we have letters.
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Saturday 2/28/04 - 10:28:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Mine is just 0-100%.
16 yrs ago - Sunday 3/7/04 - 7:49:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah.
16 yrs ago - Sunday 3/7/04 - 7:55:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
At Key Stages 1,2,3 we were graded in Levels. At GCSE (the grade boundaries of which varied in accordance to the subject) you could get A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, G and U (ungraded). This also applies to AS/A Level but minus the A*.
16 yrs ago - Wednesday 3/17/04 - 7:27:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
Mine goes A,B,C,D,R. How random is that? Catches me off-guard everytime, I tell ya!
16 yrs ago - Thursday 3/18/04 - 5:57:18 AM EST (GMT-5)
when I was at school they did. But at uni they use a 20 point grading scale with 1 being the highest.
16 yrs ago - Thursday 3/18/04 - 6:00:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, the 13 scale system 00, 03, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13. 00 is the lowest and 13 the highest.

There's also grades in percent (only for examination grades).
