Not 'of course'. Some people consider pride to be a deadly sin.

It's one of MY virtues. Some people self-proclaimed 'humble' people would disagree, however.

When pride is used in the sense of having to be better than everybody else, then pride sucks. When pride is used as a sense of accomplishment and making it in life's endeavors (of course without the notion that you are the best and everybody else sucks), then I think it can be a virtue.

^^^ But that really isn't the type of pride this topic is talking about. That would be conceit.

I think that pride and arrogance are two different things. There is nothing wrong about being proud about something your good at. It is when you have no backup that it becomes less of a um....virtue

As long as it stays a virtue. When it becomes the need to be better, or brag, then we probably aren't talking about jus 'pride' anymore. I don't believe that pride is a sin, because- it's like some of the Christians saying 'self-esteeme' is wrong. (I went to a christian school.. total waste) I don't believe it's wrong, it's something you need, to think good of yourself, to have pride in the things you do.

Pride is not a virtue. I would not go so far as to say that it is a bad thing, but I do not see any real good coming about as a result of pride.

There are different levels of everything. A certain level of pride is a virtue, but step beyond that level and it turns into a problem.

Pride goeth before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

You're asking if one of the seven deadly sins, the exact opposite of a virtue, is a virtue? It's something we are cautioned against in excess. To have it all stripped away, of course, would cripple us.

Yep. I'm also not assuming the Seven Deadly Sins got it right.

Pride in yourself, your work, your appearance, your family are all important and necessary to your existance. Pride which inhibits your ability to appreciate others is a downfall.
