To an extent, which is why I question everything else in the world.

No, I was taught not to talk back to authority figures, but nothing about questioning them.

Yes, but as I matured I learned that it is perfectly okay, they are there to be challenged-but one must do so with TACT-that's why your parent's don't encourage it at an early age!

My father taught me all about the "never Question the Authorities". My mother however, told me always question them, though do so in a very respectful manner. To this day I still follow my moms advice, and it has gotten me into absolutely no trouble, and kept me out of a lot of it.

I was taught never to question my parents. I gave anyone else hell who tried to yell at me or tell me what to do.

I don't think my parents ever taught me to be inquisitive of things. They didn't even really demand for me to keep my mouth shut every time. I was taught, however, to treat authority with dignity and respect. Now that I can see things from a more adult point of view, I never know when I'm considered to be too inquisitive that I become cynical, or too quiet that I become naïve. I figure that it's more like a guessing game than it is logic.

Someone should have told my cousin this. We used to call her "Question Girl" because she would always ask "why?"!

I was told to obey authority, but I was also taught that authority figures are sometimes wrong. (My parents often disagreed w/ the political views of my teachers, they also didn't like the way we were punished, sometimes anyway)

I was taught that "because I said so" is an acceptable and reasonable answer, if that counts.

I wasn't really taught either way but i know my parents would rather i question everything than nothing- well, thats the approach i take! i always try to question things in my own mind, and if necessary will question the person tactfully! it makes learning so much easier and more fun if you spend your time looking for holes in their logic, etc!

Yes, I was taught not to talk back to my parents, and to always follow the rules. As I grew into my teenage years, I questioned a lot more, but I was respectful about it.

No, I grew up with multiple authority figures. They didn't pay me much mind.
