Probably. That was pretty ridiculous.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 8/14/03 - 4:13:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
Some Americans can stop acting so immature about the whole France thing.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 8/14/03 - 4:15:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
Hell No! A better question is should France apologize to America for helping Iraq.

Should America apologize for helping Iraq?
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 8/14/03 - 4:23:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
It might salvage *some* dignity for proponents of that particular bit of self-humiliation.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 8/14/03 - 4:25:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
Or rather, for those unfortunate enough to be associated with it.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 8/14/03 - 10:04:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
Screw it. They aren't even french.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:04:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
We have nothing to apologise to the French about. Nothing has changed in their stance over Iraq and they aren't redeemed.

Maybe France should apologise to the free people of Iraq for trying to prevent the overthrow of Saddam.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:06:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
Should America apologise to Saddam's supporters?
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:15:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
The whole freedom fries thing was the stupidest thing I had ver heard. Oh yea, this will stick it to those french, we'll change the name of a food product that didn't even originate in their country! That'll teach 'em not to mess with us! The day I heard that, I was ashamed to be an American
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:17:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
Are we supposed to feel bad for Saddam's supporters?
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:18:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. I'm just trying to make the point that everything is not always black and white.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:28:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
Sure they are, lithium. Dont forget "You're either with us, or against us".
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:37:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't see what good apologies can do in this case.
"Sorry for being so very childish" is something that's hardly ever heard anyway.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 6:47:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
Especially in politics.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 7:07:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't think whoever started the freedom fries thing meant to stick it to the French. If they really wanted to, they could have brought up the fact that France needed help to be liberated twice in the not so distant past and called them surrender fries or occupied fries.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 7:09:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, because that would be a really good argument...sigh
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 7:30:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
"I don't think whoever started the freedom fries thing meant to stick it to the French."

Oh, puh-leeze. If they didn't want to "stick it to the French" why did they change it at all? That makes no sense.

But back on topic. Whoever came up with "freedom fries" needs a swift kick in the pants. On national television.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 7:55:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
who ever came up with "freedom fries" is a dumb@$$. flat out. it was so ridiculous it wasn't even funny.
I don't think France has done anything wrong for which to apoligize they did what they needed to do. that's what running a country's all about. I just wish we didn't have a three-year-old trying to avenge his "daddy" as a president
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 8:01:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
Damn people, so somebody changed 'french fries' to 'freedom fries'. Nobody took it seriously, and nobody gives a drat about it now either.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 8:33:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
"Nobody took it seriously"

Hmm...the House restaurants in Washington DC changed French Fries to Freedom Fries (link).

""This action today is a small, but symbolic effort to show the strong displeasure of many on Capitol Hill with the actions of our so-called ally, France," said Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, the chairman of the Committee on House Administration."

Coming from a politician during an impending war. Nobody took it seriously ??

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 8:35:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
Both France withdrawing themselves from the UN for a time AND the america freedom frie sthing is ridiculous. Apologies aren't going to fix anything,so the hell w/it.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 8:56:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
Why should we apologize to them for something so minor, when they failed to help us on something of major importance. It was a small thing to do just to tell them that they are an unthankful bunch of assh*les! See if we'll come and help you out anymore when someone wants to take over your country!!!
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 9:13:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
When will Bush apologize for lying to the world so he could take us to war. A war that has led us to a complete mess in Iraq and an economic hole back here in the States.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 8/17/03 - 9:15:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
"when they failed to help us on something of major importance"

That "major importance" is something that is being heavily debated by many citizens and politicians all over the world.
And please quit the WWII drama. Different teams were playing back then. This is 2003.
