hey, if he is real and he did make everything, i'd find it kind of odd that he makes a plant but hates for us to use it. besides, havent you ever heard the song "What if God Smoked Cannabis"?

^ I agree with that, as long as you can learn from and use whatever contemplative thoughts come up. I have a friend who used it occasionally to open up and meditate, and it worked very well for him. Then there's the negative side. If used to avoid reality, and not face certain things in life, there's a strong chance of dependancy, and all that goes along with that. It's not too helpful in this case. I wouldn't think God would approve or disapprove - it's another personal choice, like anything, that will lead to certain consequences, certain lessons. I'm sure He often inspires people in that open state. However, if you have the intention of being the best you can be, to own your life and grow within it, then surely He would recognise that a choice to avoid reality is not particularly helpful.

This is aimed at me, isn't it, exobyte? Isn't it?! Or maybe I'm just paranoid... I think God's approval or disapproval of most actions depends on how it affects your faith. If I can pray for discernment in how to serve God and help fulfill His will while using marijuana, I think the marijuana is essentially a trivial detail.

In the Bible it says not to get drunk, so I don't imagine He would approve of getting stoned.

I really don't know enough of religion, or have much of an opinion on it to answer the question. I don't think he should mind about getting high, there are much worse things out there, but I can't say definitely whether I think he would approve or not.

Here is the problem....when you are "high" you are out of control. God wants to be in control of your life, and not some substance or chemical: alcohol, drugs etc. When you are not in control, someone of thing (the devil) can take control without a problem. St. Paul uses the word "sober" (KJV) often, and it basically mean "self-control" and a person under the influence is not self-controlled.

Let's not forget Jesus' first miracle: Turning water into wine. There are many references to Jesus drinking wine in the Bible. So, either that is a contradiction rebl62, or you're making assumptions. And please, no BS about wine being unfermented, as there is no scientific evidence for that.

ihearcalling - I'm not actually religious, although I do believe in God... but I won't get into that. Are you basically asking me what reality is? Lol, how long do you have? The important point for me is that by following my spiritual path, it encourages me to look at all the "negative" things in my life - fears, insecurities, judgments - and go deep within them to find the source, and then release, heal, and grow as a result. It's all about personal growth. Using drugs to avoid reality - it's usually to avoid facing these very things - and therefore the opposite. Religion itself as avoiding reality?? Well, I firmly believe that God IS reality, so no, it's a way of FINDING reality.

since I have never used marijuana, I do not know if you can get a "light buzz" without getting high. Besides, using marijauan is illegal, therefore, wrong, period.
