id say movies because a lot of the time, sex and violence isnt put on television because the companies dont allow it
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Monday 6/16/03 - 2:21:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
Movies and Television have no effect on ones will to commit crime
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Monday 6/16/03 - 4:02:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
Television is much more accessible...
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 6/17/03 - 8:20:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
I would say television since it is easier for people to watch, but they do cut alot of it out. Movies show more of it I would say.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 6/17/03 - 8:32:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
i would have to say movies b/c u see more sex and violence there
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Wednesday 6/18/03 - 3:37:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
Both, what's really the difference...

Okay, look, you can't blame someone's tendency to commit violent crime on a movie or a TV show. That's what music's for, right? (I'M KIDDING!) Come on, people! Desensitization is not a problem caused by the media. People don't say "Oh, Carrie Anne Moss (Trinity from Matrix) shot a bunch of guys! I think I'LL go try that! It's not like it's a bad thing; why should I care?" People are desensitized by abuse or honest exposure. Video games, movies, and T.V. shows are distant seconds when it comes to real-life experience.

I think people are just more aware of what's going on in the world, so they don't give it as much thought as they might have previously. So I guess I'll say TV, since the media would be making us aware of what's going on.

Umm both the only diffence is that you buy the movies that you want! but they are like the same

skot is right...my brother did his senior exit on how music doesn't effect u act in...like a violent song doesn't make u want to do bad things, though my other brother would play songs about stealing when he would steal, haha...anyways tv and movies are just an excuse for people to use when bad things happen, so it's both and neither

I blame those who do not take responsiblility for their actions. I proudly profess guilt when I violate an unjust law, and I have the better sense to not violate the just ones.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Sunday 7/27/03 - 9:34:49 AM EST (GMT-5)
The question asks which desensitizes people most and I'd have to say TV because it's so easily available and seemingly benign.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 8/2/03 - 9:14:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Sometimes I wonder if it's just reality that does it. All a kid has to do is watch the news. Reality is always more horrifying than some fictitious scenario in a movie.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 9/3/03 - 8:53:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
Video games are! Death to video games.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 9/4/03 - 10:52:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
This supposes that we should have been sensitive to them in the first place.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Friday 9/5/03 - 2:59:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
TV...movies at least have a rating. TV really has no rating. The TV-whatever doesn't really do much. I've seen a TV-PG one that would have been rated R.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 9/6/03 - 11:22:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
One is no worse then the other, but TV is free and I guess more are exposed to it more there on a regular basis. However, now that we have dvd/vcr players, I say they run a pretty close race in being 50/50 responsible.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 9/6/03 - 8:36:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
I would say TV, as it is hte most easily accesible. It's also a proven fact that watching violence desensitizes you to it. There have been many incidences where young kids have killed others, and then seriously thought that the person they just killed would get up again. Culture today is the way it is because of the media. The media leaders deliberately set out to change modern culture in the 1930's, and look how things are different now.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 9/6/03 - 10:14:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
TV, movies are rated and you would know if theres sex or violence in it. in television you can get to any channel.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 9/7/03 - 10:33:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
TV because people let their kids watch it and don't pay attention to what they see whereas you at least have to be a certain age to go to a movie
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 9/7/03 - 1:59:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
everything you see/experience has an effect on you whether you realize it or not. it'll dig into your subconscious- your mind is like a friggin tape recorder, storing stuff you aren't aware of. all you people who think violent tv/movies doesn't effect us are really naive
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 10/21/03 - 10:16:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
Niether.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Thursday 11/18/04 - 1:35:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's not a case of whether or not you'll be driven to do everything you see on tv/movies just because you see it.

The fact that sex and violence are in your face 24/7 makes you notice it less, and be less affected by it. Like when people see someone get shot on the news, and have no emotional reaction.

I think tv is the bigger contributor, because it's more available, and it's more part of everyday life, whereas when you go to see a movie, you're in a theatre (artificial environment) which separates it from reality subconsciously. Or maybe what I just said is all horse-crap. Who knows.

Movies. You can show more stuff on movies then on tv.. unless you have HBO or Showtime.. jeez.. i watch that channel at night... it's like freaking internet cinema for adult viewing!!!
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 11/20/04 - 11:27:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
I have to say movies.Because most t.v. shows are family related and have to show a warning.Except that horrid channel 98.Ack.
