No way, I certainly don't think so. People who have worked all their lives to get the money that they have should not be punished for it.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Friday 6/20/03 - 1:08:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
No! It's wrong to penalize people who are wealthy.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 8:51:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
If they earned it, or even if they won it, it's their money and they can do as they please with it.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 9:04:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, it's their money they shouldn't be expected to do anything with it.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 2:28:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
no, cause they already pay it out there ears for taxes, because of the stupid "progressive tax" bracket system. it's retarted. percentages are ALREADY progressive! that's how a percentage works! ugh... but ya, i guess since rich people have a little more money to spare, it would be nice of them to give to charity. shouldn't be expected or anything, though.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 2:30:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
They already do give a certain amount to charity from the taxes they pay, and because they are richer, they pay more.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 5:38:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
Reganomics anyone?
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 5:45:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
Giving to charity is dumb. Chariries aren't trustworthy. If you want to help someone or an ideal do it yourself. That's the only way to really make sure the two are getting the help you wish them to.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 9:10:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well, no. Isn't the point of capitalism to do what you want with the money you have? I know that I WOULD give more than I do now, but as far as being expected to, no.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 9:14:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
If you're talking in percentage, no. Each should give the same percentage of their paycheck. The amount is what would be different.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 6/26/03 - 3:10:07 AM EST (GMT-5)
They should donate as much or as little as they desire.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 8/25/03 - 8:37:29 AM EST (GMT-5)
they should be but sadly they are not.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 8/25/03 - 7:54:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
If its expected its not charity.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Wednesday 8/27/03 - 11:17:45 AM EST (GMT-5)
I agree that it shouldn't be expected...it's their money and have the right to do whatever they see fit with it. It would be nice if more people in general were more charitable, not just the wealthy.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Wednesday 8/27/03 - 11:21:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
we call it progressive taxation now.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 9/18/03 - 4:53:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
It should be the same percentage.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 9/18/03 - 5:29:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think proportionally, it should be similar, so yes.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 9/18/03 - 5:32:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, they shouldn't. They may make more money, but as a general rule, they still have to work for it. Just like any middle class person.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 9/18/03 - 5:42:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
if your talking about welfare than no, i dont think anyone should have to pay welfare. welfare only supports laziness, there is no excuse for not working. if you decide that you cant work, than shoot yourself and do everyone a favor.
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Sunday 10/26/03 - 5:14:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes. Middle class people cannot afford it, and let's face it, rich people certainly don't NEED all that cash. People starve in the streets while the rich drive 13 different cars. Not fair
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 11/3/03 - 12:26:39 AM EST (GMT-5)
most rich people work very hard to earn their cash, and nobody should degrade them for that. if they are rolling in cash, i guess they would be greedy not to donate a little, but they work for it all too!
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 11/19/03 - 1:17:19 AM EST (GMT-5)
yes
13 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Monday 12/11/06 - 8:08:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
I can't believe there are actually people who answered yes.

QUIT BEING JEALOUS! It's their god damn money! I bet not even middle class even give a dollar to charity! Then they expect the rich to give like a million bucks! They have bills, and the want clothes and food, and they probably even help out their other families. So no is MY answer.

13 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Monday 12/11/06 - 8:20:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
You can't MAKE them do that.
