That is sick.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/16/03 - 11:27:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
I've never actually met anyone that said that.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/16/03 - 11:29:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
Hmm, I don't know anyone that has said that.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/16/03 - 4:04:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
They might be.... but there are fat girls with boyfriends, so not all guys are like "MUST BE SKINNY".. *shrugs* And really, the most annoying thing is "we can't help that we're fat - it's in our genes" <- that is the lamest excuse...

Monica Lewinsky said that I believe. I was watching Life Network the other night and a woman claimed that being a good looking single parent who didn't wish to date till her kid was 18, she put on weight to keep men away, all through her mid-life and now she's about 40 and slim, just like when she was before she became a single parent.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 6/16/03 - 4:07:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, I roomed with one...she was sexually abused as a child and was afraid to have a sexual relationship with a man, so she struggled with her weight. Fat is like a physical barrier and many women feel more protected in their skin when they are bigger and overweight.

I agree with Cryn Out. I think if it's a true feeling, it's probably more on the subconscious level.

Well, it does seem to work for them.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 7/6/03 - 8:29:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
I've never heard that but being a fat slob would tend to turn people off. Unless you are into that sort of thing. Like a certain ex president with lousy taste in women.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 7/6/03 - 11:26:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
Im sorry Czar but not all fat peole are slobs, and if you do a google search for people called um...oh yeah Fat admirers there are so many websites for them. I was watching the discovery channel and there was this thing about overweight people and some men are actually turned on by huge and I mean Mammoth woman. Thats how I found out aobut that Fat admirer thing. I think some are also called BBW.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 7/6/03 - 11:28:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
BBW is big beautiful woman I believe. I've never heard of anyone saying they were packing on the pounds on purpose. That's insane. Some guys like big girls ( I know, I'm quite chunky, and I still have a good amount of dates and such ) but I think if girls intended to gain more and more weight, they may lose a lot of the guy market. In my opinion. Plus, thats really unhealthy and kinda gross.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 7/6/03 - 11:32:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
In some african cultures jsut to get married they have to stay in seclusion for over a year and gain a good 60 lbs. They think its bueatiful.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 7/6/03 - 11:34:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
I have never heard anyone say that and that is one heckuvan excuse.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 7/22/03 - 11:33:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
I dont think I've ever met anyone who tried to be fat on purpose
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 7/22/03 - 11:36:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
never met anyone like that either. but i suppose it is possible, because all the guys i know tend to poke fun at overweight girls all the time (even thought they shouldn't)
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Thursday 7/24/03 - 4:56:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
I have met women who are a bit over weight and they are jolly as can be.....but I have also seen women who are chubby and down right cranky. Then there's the opposite....a slim woman/ or women can be equally as cruel when they seen an over weight person and look at them in total disgust....and some slim women who are also real scritchy and miserable.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Friday 7/25/03 - 1:24:03 AM EST (GMT-5)
lol, yeah right. if you're overweight and you say that you do it "to keep men away" then you're obviously in denial. for one thing, there are men who don't care about size, and some who actually prefer large women. for another thing...that's just a lame excuse.
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 9/3/03 - 7:44:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
i'd tell them "bad lie, try another"
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 9/3/03 - 7:46:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
Can't say i've heard that. I do know men who dig bigger ladies.
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 9/3/03 - 7:50:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
First of all, being over-weight doesn't also mean automatically you are a "slob" or dirty or at all unpleasant.

I do know that people who have emotional issues sometimes use eating as a way to feel better. They are unable to manage their feelings and so they become overweight.

I do know people who HAVE felt safer being over-weight.. they were afraid of the dating scene, and their size allowed them to avoid much of that.

It could be. When people are severly overweight it usually doesn't have much to do with the food, but rather they use the food to make up for something else that is lacking. Then eating so much and being so large would, more than likely, cause low self esteem. When your self esteem drops to a certain point you don't think you deserve to have anyone and then they keep eating to secure that they won't have anyone. Sounds like a vicious cycle.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 10/5/03 - 5:43:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, I've never heard a girl actually say that. I've found it's more so because of circumstances that Cryn pointed out. Some women who are sexually abused as children put on weight subconsciously so as to protect themselves from being hurt again.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 10/5/03 - 5:46:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think if you're subconsciouly doing it, that's one thing. but to go around telling people you're doing it for that is a completely different reason, and I think a fake one.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 10/5/03 - 6:02:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
Fiona Apple was raped when she was 12, and it scared her. That's why she eventually turned ana, she felt like if there was no woman or fatty curves to grab, no man would touch her.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 10/5/03 - 6:06:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
Haha. That is such a dumb excuse to be fat.

PS - Some people really can't help it guys. It is in their genes. I'm overweight and I exercise 6 days a week for several months at a time (I'm a three sport girl), am very strong and in shape, but I don't lose a pound or look any different.
