McCarthy was a pedophilic liar and pervert. Seriously, there are reports of him chasing around some of the younger interns (both male and female) and porking them. Anyway, McCarthy just said he had a list of suspected communists, I could easily do the same today and say, I have a list of suspected al Queda members and name people on the outskirts of society and a few people who I don't like.

Ha, ha! Good one, jdappleton. Lenin was much more influential. After all, his words helped to bring about the Russian Revolution, which changed the world.

I'm sorry, but I've never heard of either of these people.

Lenin was more influential, as a speaker and in all other respects. I personally find McCarthy more interesting, though...

I've heard of them, but I don't know anything really on McCarthy.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 5/9/03 - 7:17:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
Definitely Lenin, he influenced Russia, China, Eastern Europe, parts of America, including some very influential people Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Castro. McCarthy didn't get much further than the artistic community in America.

Lenin. It wasn't his fault that Stalin took power and ousted Trotsky. Lenin personally requested not to have Stalin in power before he died

McCarthy was a Cold War era witch hunter. All he wanted was publicity and he got it. He was hardly influential in his beliefs compared to Lenin.

Lenin. I don't think McCarthy is known for his public speaking skills.

McCarthy did find a significant number of Communist agents acting inside the United States. In case y'all didn't know, Communists don't love the U.S. of A. and were covertly plotting illegal actions against the government. Whether they would have been effective is up to debate, but their existence is not. Lenin, however, was far more influential. His words continue to shape the doom of hundreds of millions of people across the Asian continent and parts of Latin America.

Wow, it only took six days to get someone to make a slightly humorous Beatles reference!
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 5/17/03 - 3:36:37 AM EST (GMT-5)
yup, everyone else read the story and realised it was intended to look like a 'best beatle' question BEFORE they posted!!! and whats with the word 'slightly'?? bloody cheek!!! :)

Both were activists really. Not really known for the influence of their oratory but for the influence of their deeds.

I think Lennon and McCartney had more influence than either Lennin or McCarthey. I also liked Ringo personally!! George too.

The Lenster
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Thursday 5/22/03 - 11:07:19 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah the Lenster was way more influential than the McCarthster dude! I'm still waiting for a Davy Jones vs. Mickey Dolenz question!

I think Lenin
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 7/22/03 - 3:25:15 AM EST (GMT-5)
I thought lenins 'imagine' was a classic and far outweighed mcCarthys 'band on the run' that he performed with his wife to Linda. so i'm plumping for lenin.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 7/22/03 - 3:38:23 AM EST (GMT-5)
Lenin was the better orator. The way he got some crowds going...it's amazing. Lenin was a great man, his ideas were great ideas, unfortunatly, people were involved, and where there are people, there are problems....Communism(actually look at it) is a marvellous idea, "To Each One's Needs", but people are the flaw in the plan. Make sure people aren't involved, and perfect.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 8/4/03 - 7:08:36 PM EST (GMT-5)
they should've tried running a Communism experiment with monkeys before bringing it to the Russian society
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 8/4/03 - 8:11:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Lenin did a cover of 'Imagine?' I'd like to hear that!!!
