17 yrs ago - Monday 5/19/03 - 11:25:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'm not planning on doing so. I've got to do a foundation year then I want to take a year. So at least a two year gap.
17 yrs ago - Monday 5/19/03 - 11:35:03 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah. It makes the transition easier. It never occurred to me to take time off in between.
17 yrs ago - Sunday 5/25/03 - 8:20:46 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes. It wasn't so difficult as a group of us all went to the same college.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 6/15/03 - 7:47:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
No I had a year off working in Paris first.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 6/15/03 - 7:52:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes. I went straight away and hated it. Now Im so sick of school I could combust and I don't wanna go back. My advice is take a break, start school the next spring after Christmas.

16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 6/25/03 - 7:09:57 AM EST (GMT-5)
I did - and I've partly regretted it ever since. I had wanted to spend a year working first, to save up some money - but my father wouldn't hear of it, and I didn't have the brains or guts to strike out on my own and do it anyway. So, I was still only 17 when I went to university - and looking back, that was too young to go (and I was an especially immature 17-year-old at that). A year spent working beforehand could have made me more mature. As well, university just became like another 3 years of high school, and towards the end I was sick and tired of being there. Traditionally, I was a last-minute person when doing assignments - but during my final year, I would hand them in days early just to get them out of the way. At the time, though, I thought it was good that I had gone to university straight away - because I was getting it out of the way sooner. That, however, was the wrong attitude to have.

yes and within two semesters I had bombed out so I pooted around in community college for a few years part time then finally got some funding to finish at a university
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 6/26/03 - 2:43:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, I'm doing that right now. I don't know if I want to take a year off or go right into graduate school.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 6/26/03 - 2:58:01 AM EST (GMT-5)
Well, I had the summer in between...it wasn't like I was like c-ya after I threw off my hat at my high school graduation!
16 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 7/13/03 - 10:16:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
I was forced to go there right after highschool. I wanted to take a year off so I could decide what I wanted to do. I ended up spending my first 3 years there doing gengeral studies and wasting a lot of money.
16 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 7/13/03 - 10:33:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
I graduated high school mid term in 1938 and traveled the world for the next six months with my parents. After that I entered collage and worked to get my degree(s). I think living the collage life and getting my Masters was the best thing I ever did. The financial cost seemed to be extremely high at the time, but the rewards have taken me places that I could only have dreamed of going to. Of all things my parents did for me and gave to me, I think the gift of higher education was the best. I don't think collage attendance makes you any smarter, it only teaches how to think. And that makes you smarter.

16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/03 - 8:41:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
I took a year off and then I only stayed a semester. After that I did corispondance work and got my degree
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/03 - 8:47:36 AM EST (GMT-5)
yes indeed. had a year and a half abroad as part of the degree though, so thought a GAP year would be a bit greedy!
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 9/5/03 - 10:06:21 AM EST (GMT-5)
I did, and I STILL hate EVERY minute of it!
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 9/21/03 - 5:43:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'm planning on doing that.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 9/21/03 - 5:50:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
I went into college a few days before graduating high school. Summer even! I feel that jumping right in, was a mistake. Rushing into college just made it harder to want to stick with it, especially while holding down a full time job at the same time.
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/16/03 - 5:06:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'm going to take a year off, but I'm still applying
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/16/03 - 5:08:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'm in my gap year now
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/16/03 - 5:12:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
what are you doing with that year?
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/16/03 - 6:41:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
going to teach English in Colombia
