It depends.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 5/6/03 - 12:26:12 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, everybody has a right to their own opinions
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 5/6/03 - 12:36:30 AM EST (GMT-5)
no id only boycott them if their art was crap...
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 5/6/03 - 12:37:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
haha nice tamahau
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 5/6/03 - 9:33:43 AM EST (GMT-5)
It would depend what their views were, and how they expressed them. If they used their art to express views I disagreed with I probably wouldn't buy their work anyway.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 5:10:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I just wouldn't pay anything to look at their works... in that sense I boycott many artists I have nothing against.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 5:11:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
off course it is my freedom of speach to not give money to those who don't support my way of thinking if I so choose.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 5:14:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
Was the above sentence conceptual art, I would like to boycott it because I can't understand what the the view is. Is that helpful?
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 5:24:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I wouldn't. What matters to me is if the product they deliver is worth spending time/money on. If a singer/songwriter makes beautiful music, I don't care if (s)he is a racist, for example. I would hate the artist for it, but I can't deny the beauty of music and I may just buy the cd.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 6:16:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nah. I like The Guess Who and Burton Cummings, even though I hear he's a schmuck. I try not to stress out about little things like that. Life's too short.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 6:49:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
"Shmuck"?
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 7:35:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
yes for example what the dixie chicks said.. never will i buy any of their cds
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 7:46:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
Princess Ana: Schmuck is Yiddish. It kinda means "loser".
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 5/24/03 - 11:58:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Oh yes, those evil evil Dixie Chicks...with their opinion and audacity to vent it and all ;)
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 5/25/03 - 11:09:47 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, any artist with a conservative bent is one I boycott.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 9/9/03 - 9:27:43 AM EST (GMT-5)
I might
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 9/9/03 - 9:32:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
Just as I make a special effort to patronize companies whose positions I support and boycott those that offend me, I would do the same for artists.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 9/9/03 - 9:35:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
It's possible, depending on the views. I mean, I don't buy anything by Thomas Kinkade, because his "view" of art is so wretchedly nauseating to me.

Using w8in's example, yes, I would refuse to buy anything made by a musician that I felt was racist. Art can be very influential and I couldn't support someone's ability to influence others in a way that I found dangerous or disgusting.

17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 9/9/03 - 9:55:16 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, but if I didn't like their work (whether I agreed with them or not) I wouldn't go see it.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 10/4/03 - 9:45:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
Depends what their particular view was.. If it was someting I just disagreed with, no. If it was something I felt was morally wrong, yes.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 12:38:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
everyones entitled to their own views even if they are a celebrity. I might not agree with them but their beliefs would have to be very extreme (in my eyes) in order for me to boycott them
